Title: Recipes we love from EDC
Post by: Bedlam on August 24, 2013, 02:35:25 am
I have just made some scones from Edc, thanks to beautiful Jo. It has me wondering what other recipes you all love from that book. We are so spoilt for choice on here that i really havent used my edc. Most comments are a little negative about it. The scones are really good.
Must confess, mine arent as good as Jo's but i used some homemade yoghurt(made my first batch this week) which makes them extra special to me. Love it when i use all basic ingred made by me,even the jam on top. Thats the pleasure of thermie.

Good idea Bedlam, when you compare other books provided with an appliance, the one provided with our TMX really is a decent book.  I love the new edition, warts and all  ;D  Don't forget to enter the competition (http://www.forumthermomix.com/index.php?topic=13911.0) for the newest edition.  I must admit I rarely use the DC except for basic tasks but with all the new recipes in the new book, it will be worth trying some.

I must say I am pretty proud of Jo and her scones as neither I nor her Nana are good scone makers.  I will try Jo's/EDC recipe when next I need a batch of scones.

Good idea Denise - I certainly dont make the most of my EDC.  I am sure there are lots of total gems of recipes in there that I dont know about!

Favourite EDC recipes from me are:

Herb and garlic dip
Mayonaise
Coleslaw
Dukkah
Spiced moroccan tomato and red lentil soup (a great quick meal made from pantry basics)
White sauce
and of course custard  ;D

We love the Mushroom risotto here (with a bit of added flavoured salt)
Also the custards.
Use the EDC method for hard-boiled eggs too, and playdough.
The herb and garlic dip - which I use as a garlic butter for garlic bread...YUM!  :D

My DD10 loves the Hungarian goulash. Also recently discovered the brioche dough recipe which turned out well. Custards, bechamel sauce, Anzac bickies (although I do halve the amount of sugar), and the shortcrust pastry is awesome!

Once in a while I sit down with my EDC and read it from front to back (well, look at all the
pictures) and promise myself I'll make something new after that read. My favourites are basics like rice, boiled eggs, shortcrust pastry, fruity dream, too easy chocolate cake, pikelets...I'd love recommendations for which main meal to try.

I have many but my all-told favourite discovery in this book is the Rhubarb with Strawberries recipe in the breakfast section - I'll order that for my first breakfast if I make it to heaven!
