Mab, it is certainly soup weather. I like variety so am scaling down recipes to make just 2 serves. Today , tomato, and chickpeas with Wasabi leaves from the garden, The original recipe had watercress. Chicken pies, I’ll use RTE recipe for chicken pot pies but make them in the pie machine. Good to freeze for a quick lunch.

Neighbour gave me a very large bag of carrots. She works at an organic garden where they develop new strains of veggies. They dig up or pick the veggies and score them out of 10. Then the workers can take what they want. They are not allowed to sell them. I’ve just spent 1/2 hour on Cookidoo looking at recipes. Looks like carrot cup cakes and lots of soup as well as pilaf.

The 2 books I bought were, I’ll bring dessert by Benjamin Ebuehi. And Winter Wellness by Rachel De Thample. The first one has lots of sweet cakes and biscuits. I’ve had to cut the sugar in 1/2 in those I’ve made. The second one uses healthy ingredients and is quite imaginative.

Always good to try something new, Marina. Doesn’t often work out. Fig jam today. The quinces are also starting to ripen.

Cookie, wish you didn’t put that one up. Still I don’t feel so guilty buying cook books with recipes I will make as a main meal in a decent restaurant can easily cost the same as a cook book.

Cooked beef in stout for GS and friend. They loved it. Bananas fritters to follow. GS is cooking for himself. I gave him a large pot that I haven’t used since shifting. He replaced a light fitting that wasn’t working. I’m going to make Cornish Pasties today. I cook the filling in the Microwave prior to forming the pasties.

New biscuit recipe from new book. Preserved citrus peel and olive oil. I make my peel for the Hot X Buns. I wouldn’t use commercial peel in these so won’t post recipe. They are very nice but very high in sugar. Also made some Rum and Raisin Banana cake in the new square hole baking sheet. Just brushed the holes with cake release. Perfect.
