How about rolling it all up and steaming it in the Varoma!? ??? ??? ??? Would cook the prunes, without drying it all out, what d'ya reckon?

if you cook the prunes it will be soft and that 's not what you want because  you cant slice it.
it need to be soft enough to  bind it together and then dehydrate in the oven , so it's become like a nice solid fruit salami

  The  fresh fruit is plum  and when that is dehydrate it that  is what thy call a prune
