Good afternoon everyone.  A bitterly cold day here with an icy wind that goes right through you.  Had to go to the supermarket this morning and nearly froze.

We are having a most beautiful clear sky 28 degrees here today. Just catching up with the forum as I have been absent for a bit. Met up with Mama Fergie and Uni in Bali. Had a lovely catchup.

Don’t worry Gert, we were all thinking about you. Especially those of us who have been freezing.  Glad you had a wonderful time.  Nice to catch up with old Forum friends.
Not so cold this morning. 9.

A sunny warm day here today. DH has been cutting the hedges that are part of our boundary in our back garden.

Saw the gut specialist yesterday.  He confirmed that I have IBS. He said I am managing it quite well with the FODMAP diet. Has reduced some medication that I am on as he thinks that it may be causing problems.  Has ordered some elimination tests. Thinks stress is also part of problem. Looks like garlic and onions are out from now on.  I really miss these .
Last night attended Gutsy Girl Film night with DD.  There were a lot of Aussie women featured this year.  Inspirational.
Not as cold.  Can feel Spring coming. 9 degrees.

IBS can be miserable, I know!  Not being able to eat garlic and onions will be challenging, but, like anythng, you will get totally used to not incorporating them into your meals, although you will miss them like mad at first.  You are so inventive at creating your meals that you will find appropriate options as substitutes before you know it.

What a bugger Chookie. Life without garlic is unthinkable!! Maybe garlic powder?? There is a lot of info and cookbooks re Foodmap. Don't you get blown away today.

Good morning everyone.  Cool here with sunshine and then rain.

Chookie, I'm sorry to hear about the IBS diagnose, I know exactly how unpleasant gut problem can be.

A quick diagnosis is a good one Chookie, now you know what you are up against and trial and error is no longer needed.  Obviously you will throw yourself into finding out what you can and cannot eat with IBS and going down that track will improve your health no end.  Sorry about this news but now you know what it is, life will improve and who better to tackle the problem than our Chookie. Good luck and hopefully improved health will soon be the norm in your household. Xx

Ditto from me for all that has been said Chookie. IBS is a bugger. I have friends who suffer from it. I have noticed lots of Fodmap recipe books around lately. You may be able to peruse them for ideas. Will you be able to eat gluten containing foods?

Quite a nice day today with a maximum of 25, however tomorrow is rain, storms and hail with 16.

Many thanks for the words of encouragement.
Gert, no garlic except garlic oil.  Can have the green tops of spring onions but not the white part.  Can tolerate a little Gluten and SD ok.  Lactose free milk is ok as is Soy milk.
There is a very good magazine called Fodmapper.  Imaginative recipes. So impressed I sent for the back copies.
The good news today was that Rals platelets have gone up.  129 from 50.  Due to increase in medicine. The 2 tablets cost $150 a day. Incredible.

-1 degrees at the moment.  Sun out later.
Even the Ballarat people are complaining about the cold.  I notice our power bill is up this month.
