I unexpectedly have a friend of DD's over for a play, so a quick batch of orange and date muffins is in the oven - with a chocolate button in the middle of each.

Mmm, that looks good!

I have another loaf rising now - the recipe on the first post.

Yay, I made my first dough yesterday and left it overnight to bake this morning. I thought it was a passable loaf. Possibly not award winning, but I am happy.

Had a fun baking day yesterday - had friends around for dinner. I made baguettes (one made into garlic bread), salads, a chicken marinade, a cake and some berry coulis. Was more cooking at once than I have done in ages - my ankle was a little swollen by the end of the day, and a bit of a reminder not to be on my feet so long at once!

No photos - it's almost all gone. Just a few bits of salads which we will eat up tonight.

Made chocolate brownie and a loaf of bread last night....not much to show for the brad already, and maybe half the brownie left! The elves (ie DH) have been nibbling!

Interesting! I wonder why the Black Friday sales seem to have suddenly taken off. I've never noticed them before, but this year they are everywhere here. And it's not like we have anything around about thanksgiving so it seems pretty strange to just adopt the sales part of the holiday.

I have done a little Xmas shopping - mostly kids clothes, but a few little other bits. Chutney and a serving board for BIL, water-based nail polish for niece (washes off - love it for the little kids), and a few other random stocking stuffers.
Just about to go browse tmx cookbook reviews now - mum and sis have just purchased machines, so think they might like some extra recipes....I won't mention which ones I am looking at since I have told them to get over here and start enjoying the forum! ;)

Yay, CC! They really are good! We are so enjoying not having the jug on the bench, and not having to wait for the jug to boil (and then going off to do something while its heating, then forgetting and coming back when it's too cold and having to boil again...)

Spersephone, the kievs from here are lovely! They are a family fave and even my impossible-to-please father in law asked for the recipe.

We have just had chicken kebabs and salads for dinner - feels like summer. :)

Cookie, I don't think I have tried that recipe from dinner spinner - might have to give that a whirl. Yummo.

We've been off at the caravan for the weekend - first time in months, as I can now hobble to the bathrooms with just one crutch.  So today's task is catching up with washing and sorting all the stuff we brought back.

Interesting idea indeed. I personally not a huge fan of buying things through a party plan type of system, so would have appealed to me to have a casual drop in option like this rather than organising a demo.

I wonder what the noise of multiple machines going would be like?

I love my sewing machine with inbuilt needle threader! Magic little invention. I have great intentions of sewing more than I do, but never seem to find the time.  ;) luckily I had hemmed two pairs of wide legged pants  couple of days before I broke my ankle - they were all I could fit over my cast other than skirts which weren't really warm enough!

And Obbie, you are right, it is often cheaper to buy. Except I am wondering about DDs leggings - the bought ones are generally very thin fabric that wears through in no time. I think that will be my next thing to make - pretty simple sewing and my mum lives near a fabric factory where we can get knit material pretty cheap. Otherwise it's just another hobby really, not a money saver.

The dips sound good too Chookie.

Just finished making the rhubarb curd - only two stalks left!

Our Cubs bike ride last night got cancelled :( DS was most disappointed - they went ahead last week with their beach cleanup in pouring rain and strong winds, but a small bit of drizzle and the biking got canned.

Just back from physio - looks like my back-to-work plan may be a bit ambitious. :(
