CP your story of Baci brought a tear to my eye.  :'( :'(

On a happier note why not treat the twins as children and open a bank account for them. Then on banking day each week or month give them their money to bank. Then if they need treatment you will have the money tucked away. They will probably need more than 2/- a week. ( that was what I used to get!)

Well I was going to cancel the pet insurance this week...

7am the underground reticulation goes on. It makes a squealing noise and a few sputters so consequently the little pups are always there to find the "snake" and help get it out of the ground  :-))  not only "snakes" but they've killed off a few of the bushes in this particular garden bed with all their bouncing and prancing so we put a wire fence across to stop them going in. It didn't stop them at all cos Peanut realised he could easily jump up halfway and then jump over the top. He always teaches Gracie these athletic tricks being the good brother. So bright and early as I open my eyes out of sleepy slumber I hear a high pitched screaming. He must've got his leg caught in the wire somehow or even jumped off the BBQ. So it was off to the vet where he'll have to go under, and have x rays and whatever else. Vet says probably around $700 and covered on insurance. Whew! I've probably paid this much to date so I'm glad I didn't cancel last week otherwise I would be spewing. She recommends insurance at least for the first year cos they tend to do lots of silly things before they begin to mature.

Its a lot worse than the vet initially thought as he has fractured his tibia on  a  growth plate. This means tomorrow it's off to the specialist. Bought a crate today so we can keep him quiet and not trying to play with Gracie. She's abit lost as he's still at the vet. Apart from the screaming when he did it, he has remained silent and very brave. He's such a cutie.

Oh no CP, I don't want to scare you but we had something similar happen to our dog and the cost was more like $2500 ouch.
Hope peanut will recover quickly, but being young they seem to get over it much quicker. Our old girl will never be the same, she's a sheep dog and now semi retired. She still runs with one leg up, but she just loves working and still manages on a casual basis lol. :)

Poor Peanut and poor Gracie.  Our sillier one is Toffee and whenever she is out Beau misses him dreadfully ( he's a little sook) crying and sounding very woeful.

Poor little  Peanut. Get well soon. You will have to give Gracie lots of cuddles while he is away. I suppose boys will be boys. :)

CP.. Hope your little one heals quickly and completely!!   Thank heavens your insurance is there!! My vet advised me to look into insurance for our two (very) senior citizens. The premiums and restrictions were unbelievable. Almost equated to.. " yes, we will give medical coverage to your two provided they have lived in the Northern Territory for two years and became ill/injured during a dust storm in the rainy season and were incapacitated by a runaway tractor after it had been kicked and set in motion by a rabid buffalo."  Needless to say, we are without insurance....and read the doggies' OH&S manual to them twice a day!
