Bread / Proving in the Thermie Bowl
« on: November 04, 2012, 08:18:50 am »
Does anyone else have issues with proving the dough in the thermie bowl? I have always risen mine in a pyrex bowl and never a problem. Doing it in the thermie bowl always sticks, especially to the lid and then it tears and it just deflates. Just wondering if anyone else has had issues?

Does anyone know what the egg actually does? Just wondering if I should bother? Does it add flavour or does it help with texture?

Thats odd NF, I would have expected the breasts to shred and the thighs to stay in pieces. That has been my experience anyway ???
When I read through everyones comments I was positive that is the way it was going to happen! I was very very shocked! The thigh was very succulent though!

I spent ages cutting the fat off. Funnily enough the thighs shredded and the breast didn't!

Made this again tonight but used thigh instead of breast and it has turned out nice. I couldn't believe how much fattier it was though  :-\

When I got my Thermie Meagan had written in the back of my EDC a few websites ect that I might find helpful. I asked to join this one straight away and I don't post much. I find it an invaluable source of information but it is very daunting! Everyone knows everyone and I kind of feel like I am intruding. I am an oddball and very strange to a lot of people so I find it hard to always comment and don't know how my comments might be taken on the interwebs! Getting a new Thermie can be overwhelming and people might join and then forget. Also like I think it was CP mentioned you can't see the pics unless you are logged in. I am all about the pics!!

I chose my email name at the time from my fave book series I was reading ( Farseer trilogy by Robin Hobb) Nighteyes is the name of the Wolf and Fitz is his bonded partner. There is also a character called Malta and our dog is named after her ( in the next series by Robin Hobb and then a horse is named after the Human Character and is in the THIRD series)

So basicallt I just love Robin Hobb ;D

I must have a really slow oven. I cooked mine ( Gluten free and normal) at 160 and they weren't anywhere near cooked at the 30 minute mark. Still very wobbly and under cooked.  :-\ They have come out perfect though eventually :)

I made the Raspberry Coulis and everyone loved it. Although it did freak the kids out when I was squeezing it through my nut bag to remove the seeds! Kids thought I was squeezing a heart  :o

I bought a mini doughnut maker from Kmart for $12 when they had them on special abut 2 years ago and I make the kids 'normal' doughnuts as well as gluten free ones. Works perfectly each time. Ths recipe  is such a great standby one when hungry kids drop by!
would you mind sharing the Gluten free recipe? It is something my son misses so so much!

Made these for dessert tonight and served with raspberry coulis. Very nice and easy recipe.
It changes. I thought it was quite ironic!

Oh my gosh! How yum is this! I have to stop using the word yum around here! I use it way too much! Left overs packed up for son's lunch for a few days :)

I added carrots, spring onions and red capsicum too :)
