Does anyone have a recipe for jaboticaba fruit? What can I do with it (apart from giving it to the chooks) ;D thanks Ed

I have made jam with it by tossing it in the TMX with some water for about maybe 30 minutes or so then straining all the seeds and skin. Pop it back into with two bucket loads of sugar , lemon juice or jam setter cook until it is thick as. Pour it into jars to set then give it all away as it tastes like crap!
Did it twice. THe first time I removed all the seeds by hand and blended it in the end. Still disgusting.
Don't know why I tried it a second time. Oh yes I was given a bucket load.

It sounds like it may be best to give it to the chooks to start with. ;) ;)

Certainly cheaper! I actually quite like them but the pips!!!!!!

We have a few jaboticabas trees growing- very slowly- and wish they were bearing more fruits as they're a real treat fresh.
Sorry, not sure how you could use jaboticabas in cooking :-\ The outside skin is a bit rubbery and you would have to get rid of the" clingy" seeds. Eat as much as you can fresh!
Don't you love that burst of pineapple flavour when you get to the fleshy part? Far better than any lolly :)

Thanks to all, looks like me and the chooks will be all fruited up this Christmas.

have a quick look online it says to only use the juice to use for jams, jellys etc no pulp, seeds or skin..says to boil to soften them then get allt he juice out of them by pushing them through a sieve then add sugar etc and continue as you would with a jam etc?? maybe have a search online ...
