They were the Jans, we had 3 in our house. Such lovely ladies - but everyone was great.
There were some fun photos.
Should we come back there next year CP?
Gert
-
Whatever the majority wants. Another good location could be the Swan Valley here as there are lots of places to visit. I can certainly organise it.
-
Swan Valley has plenty to offer CP :D
-
Swan valley would be great
-
Ooh yes. Even if it is just before the Model A national rally I could spare a couple of days. As long as it wasn't during!
-
Couple of nutters from last year. LOL!

Both have the name Jan Miller too. Sisters in law.

Swan Valley would be great. Date?
-
Not the last two weeks in September please. Pretty please? With sugar on the top. :) :) :)
-
Could it be when it's a bit warmer?
-
Sounds good but not in summer as the Swan Valley gets too hot Michele.
-
Maybe Spring? I'm a bit of a Mexican and like to go north for the Winter. :D
-
Ha ha actually I like warmer weather too but usually our winter days are sunny and only chilly in the morning and evening.
We used to be members of a golf club in the Swan Valley and it is usually about 5degrees warmer than the coast so can become too hot for comfort in summer. That's only my opinion but others may disagree.
-
I am happy for anytime except those September weeks. But if it is to be hedl then well too bad, I won't be there, I will be in Busselton.
-
Hopefully it will be arranged for a date that you are available cookie. There's another 50 weeks to choose from ;D

Me too ;D ;D
Gert
-
I have been there often in summer and over 40 degrees of dry heat feels like you are in an oven.
It's too hot for me Gert and I like to be warm ;D
-
I'm in too 😎
-
:D :D I've given you your own 2014 forumfest thread girls - still need to post details of this year's.
-
Hahaha. You girls are so much fun. Talking about last year before this year happened, and planning for next year :D
Sounds like Malaysians talking about food. Eating breakfast, reminiscing yesterday's dinner and talking about tonight's dinner ;D
-
Good move Judy. Time is flying.
Gert
-
I would come to the opening of an envelope ;D So if the dates line up I will be there. ;D

-
Like the girl guides or scouts our motto is "be prepared. "
-
😄😄😁😁
-
Ohhh I am in. I just need the dates so that I can put in for the day/s off work ;D ;D
-
Should we set a date? I'll start. 10/11/12 October 2014
Arrive Perth by 10th. Meet up Travel to swan Valley maybe by hired bus. Sat for playing. Sat night for eatin' and a drinkin'. Sunday morning for breakfast all together before heading back to Perth.
This time it might be easier if we could hire a bus and driver for the weekend so no bugger has to worry about logistics . Limit the number of people by the number able to be seated in a bus. Be nice if we could all be together as I feel I missed out getting to know others a bit and honestly 3 days with chookie and cookie was a chore. NOT! ;D ;D ;D
I loved the house idea and it was all so well planned but might there be another easier way for those planning. Poor CP must have been exhausted
Just thinking? Anyone ?
Gert

:-* :-* :-*
-
Whens Soring in the Valley, way too busy that weekend.
:)
-
Sounds good to me Gert.
There is the Vines resort in the Swan Valley and the Swan Valley Oasis resort.
The city is only about 25 minutes away and Joondalup about the same.
Hillary's Boat Harbour about 30 minutes away.
Depens on what everyone wants.
As Hally just said Spring in the Valley would be way too busy. Will check dates
-
Isn't Spring in the Valley in Sept?
Gert
-
It usually is in September but no dates showing yet for next year. :)
-
Gert I love those plans.
-
Swan Valley Oasis Resort = Supa Golf with Bubbles!!! (the only game of golf I will probably play but I just had visions of us playing lol)
-
Giggle and bash?
-
Giggle and bash?
lol love it
-
Shall we rename it GigglenBash14? I love it because its unique.

Gert
Good dates for me it's the last weekend of the school holiday. I wouldn't have to get anytime off work.
-
Lots of positives coming forth. ;)

-
Just a few bits fr cp & some swedish food :)
-
Looks good to us. We will roll with whatever. ;D
-
I would love to join in. I live in Perth and am not too far from the Swan Valley. If anyone needs any help, let me know. :)
-
Annausie. We should start a list . We will work on it next weekend when we are all together.
Gert
-
Sounds like a great excuse to head west. The suggested weekend is the Bathurst 1000 car race. A time when I still can't decide whether I want to be in Bathurst or very far away.
-
After much discussion in Adelaide it was mooted that we should have next year's Forum Fest In another state to give an opportunity for more local members to come. Tasmania was thought be be a good choice and Hobart the city with the time being in October hopefully when the weather is mild.
We all felt it was important to be inclusive of all members and to make a definite time with members then being able to make a plan in a timely fashion. The weekend of 24/25/26 was thought to be a good one. The Royal Hobart Show is on. Some wanted to go to MONA. There is the Salamanaca Market on the 25. There are no school hols on. Some wanted to bring partners/children.
Are there any thoughts?
I am sure if we had good input the Tasmanian Tourist Bureau could put a package together.
Keep in mind the markets are a destination all by itself and operates on Sat 0830 to 1500 only. The MONA is free for locals $20/$15 for non locals . The Huon Valley is only 25 minutes away.
Any ideas yet?
Gert
-
Sounds great so far to me
-
Sounds great Gert
-
Should we start a list of potentials? Who wants to be 1?
Gert
-
Gert could be no. 1 :)
-
I am happy to be on list Gert :D
-
Love to be on the list, being an ex Hobart girl. I will put my thinking hat on as what else we could do. Mona is in my opinion an all day trip, but more than worth a visit, bus one way ferry the other. We had a lovely lunch there. Thursday 23 October is a public holiday in Hobart.
-

I visited Mona last year, and half a day was more than enough for me :P :P But then I am not particularly into art galleries and museums. If that is your thing, then it certainly could be an all day trip, but maybe not for everyone. But I agree that it is definitely worth a visit - even if the "art" doesnt grab you, the architecture of the building is amazing!
But as for Salamanca Markets - definitely an all-day trip in my book!
Unfortunately I wont be able to make it to Hobart next year though. Too many work trips on the calendar already :-))

I am sorely tempted by the thought of a Hobart Forum Fest as I have never been there. DH and I are heading there for the first time over the Melbourne Cup weekend this year but I have a sneaking suspicion we may be in Taiwan about October next year. Will have to wait until we have the October meeting dates before I can commit to anything else, though ... fingers are crossed.
-
Put me down, can't see anything that stands in the way except for lack of money
-
I am only just reading this thread for the first time. Don't know how I have missed it. Put me down please. I'll worry about logistics, money etc. later!
-
Sadly,I think we will be in Europe however if our plans change I will be there.
I strongly urge anyone who can go, to attend, the destination isn't really as important as the wonderful people you will meet.
-
Please add my name to the list.
I've never been to Tasmania, but my DH has been a few times. We were actually talking about going there this year, but we just didn't get around to organising it. DH made a comment last night about how the forum girls would probably start to organise next year’s get together soon, so I told him they already had! He said we should plan our trip around the dates, go to the retreat and then visit the rest of the places in Tassie we want to see.
I didn't even have to suggest it, it was all his idea. That's how much fun he had at the Adelaide retreat dinner on Saturday night :D
-
We did notice your lovely DH had great time. Just as well what goes on tour eh?
So are you in for Tassie?
Gert
-
I'll probably go over early as my DGD turns 18 on the 19th October and spend some time with her and my family. The weather should be good then but you can get all seasons in a day. It snowed in Hobart one Christmas years ago.
-

Gert
Yes Gert, I'm in!
-
Gert, at the moment I think it's a go.... for me.
-
Im not sure if it will be possible but will put my name down for the moment..
Katie your dh gave us all a laugh ... The image of a thorn keeps coming back to me lol
-
;D ;D ;D
-
count me in Gert
A B/B type accommodation would be nice
-
I'd love to join in, I was so jealous of you all in Adelaide and at Chookie's! :D
-
I'm unsure at the moment. Will have to give it some thought mainly from the money side. I'll start saving my 5 cent pieces.
-

Nooooooooo........ $1 coins and you will make it. Or I can send you all my 5cent coins.
Gert
-
Ok $1 coins it is. I have a supply from this trip so they can start it.
-
Put me down 😄we are looking at incorporating it as part of our family holiday if we can get flights on special all be good. When I get on the computer next I'll outline where we visited as we used Hobart as our base for 5 days. Our next trip we want to go from Launceston to Hobart.
-
Hope you can make it Kerry as I would love to meet you again and meet Helena.... Hope my spelling is not far off the mark
-
This looks interesting. I have vowed never to go OS again, but think Tassie would be OK. ;D. Count me in.
-
I can fully understand that Chookie.
I am about 80% sure I can come too. I am saving the $1 coins as Gert suggested. The 2014 National Meet for Model A's should be all wrapped up by then. I'll know more as next year moves on.
-
Oh goodie girls. What do you think about apartments around the Cove or hotel rooms?
I am thinking about maybe arrive Thurs , a visit somewhere on Fri, all day at Salamanca and surrounds, off on Sunday.
Thoughts please and is there anyone from Tassie interested at all?
Gert
-
I'd prefer hotel rooms so as not to upset toooooo many folks with my snoring and also if people needed a little time out!
The plan you outlined sounds good Gert. I really want to go to the Salamanka markets and I have nt seen Constitution dock for many years. Is it still held there?
-

Me too re snoring.
Yup.
Gert
-
Markets are still at the same place cookie.
-
Hotels are fine by me although I don't think I snore - CC would be able to answer that.

I can confirm that Judy doesn't snore. :D :D
-
Thanks CC , that's nice to know.
-
ROFL
-
I don't snore either but still prefer a hotel room. ;D
It worked out beautifully in Adelaide giving us all our own space but all close by.
-
Hi all
I would love to come and check out Tassie's sights and produce.
Cheers
Angela
-
We will go with whatever is decided. The market is an event not to be missed, and the shops around are also worth looking into. Good bookshop, lots of hand crafts, Matthew Evans has a shop with the cheese man. Expensive but interesting stuff.
-
Judy there is a list of names started but I think only I can add the names. How can I change that or do we need a new the thread . It is a few pages back.
Gert
-
Here's the list Gert, only the person who starts the thread or a moderator can add names. This is the list so far so perhaps start a new thread now that we are heading in the right direction - perhaps call it Tentative Details of Hobart forumfest 2014, give some details and add the following list so that it's in the first posting and easy for everyone to find.

I am turning the light out now so will do it tomorrow if that is ok judy. Had a busy mind day.
Gert
-
In your own good time Gretchen, no hurry. Sleep tight.
-
Oh my heavens. That will teach me not to check the forum for ages. A forum fest that I can drive too. Woohoo! I will probably have to just do a day trip or just stay one night due to work. Count me in. Very exciting! :-)
-
If you would like a party one night, please let me know.
-
I have just read that a lot to see at Mona is underground. I can't do that. Ral is not keen also. Please don't include us in this activity.
-
Thanks chookie I don't think anyone is keen on going to Mona. I've been a couple of time. The ferry up the river is a nice little outing on its own.
-
Thanks Jen.
-
I went
to MONA last year and it was a most wonderful experience. There is no feeling of it being underground at all but I get it chookie.
I will do it again but just not this time. In fact I really wished I could go more often as he changes things. The location is spectacular, the bistro has fantastic food. The restaurant is top class and the wines outstanding
The whole thing is one of the best destinations I have ever been to uand that includes some of the best most spectacular art galleries and museums in the world. Tasmania is very fortunate to have it.
