Name of Recipe: chocolate and orange bread and butter pudding
I just made this up tonight, and this is what I did. Thanks to Judy I have altered my original metric/imperial measurements.
Can be halved or quartered to make small quantities.
Number of People: 6 to 8
Ingredients:
Bread, buttered, and spread with marmalade, and cut into slices and squares. 3/4 of a white sliced loaf.
70g choc chips
700 mls milk
100 g plain choc.
75 g sugar
4 eggs
1 orange rind, carefully peeled with peeler.
Blitz orange rind with sugar in *:. Add 100g plain chocolate and blitz until the chocolate is crumbed.
Add in milk and warm at 50 speed 2 until choc melted. The idea is to melt the plain choc without heating the mix too much.
Cool the mix.
When cool add eggs and blitz until smooth.
In a ten inch square dish layer the bread and butter around the edges, the base and add two more layers, butter side up.
Sprinkle choc chips in the two middle layers.
Pour over the egg milk mix and leave to soak for a minimum of 30 minutes, mine soaked two hours.
Optional sprinkle with Demerara sugar. I didn't and it was sweet enough. If I was going to do this I'd reduce the sugar in the recipe.
Oven bake approx 40 minutes at 150 fan oven until risen like a soufflé.
It was a big hit. ;D

Sounds nice DJ. Here are the conversions I've worked out
1.25 pints milk = 700mls
3 oz sugar = 85g

Clever you DJ. A Jaffa bread and butter pudding.

I made this tonight using Costco dinner rolls, it tasted much better than the photos look.
