Recipe Book Recipe Reviews / Review: Yoghurt Compote - QFIT pg 45
« on: September 19, 2013, 04:50:52 am »
Successfully made yogurt on the first try (how exciting is it to make your own yoghurt??) and wanted to make something out of it. So I proceeded with this easy recipe. I used plums. Love how easy it is to make such a delicious breakfast from scratch. Should be quite impressive for guests too. I would probably make ahead because it takes time for the stewed plums to cool down before I can serve. Yum!

This is my fist beetroot juice and I have to say the first earthy taste of beet root in the juice threw me off slightly. But I thoroughly enjoyed it as the beet root was not overpowering, nicely balanced with other fruits. I'm also going to make this for my toddler as it's so nutritious. I used bottled apple juice this time but would probably juice my own apple next time.

Recipe Book Recipe Reviews / Nonya curry chicken, taste of Asia, page 49
« on: September 06, 2013, 10:47:18 am »
I followed the recipe word for word so I don't know what went wrong or maybe it was supposed to be like this, but my chicken turned to mush. The taste of candlenut was also too much and the consistency was too thick for my liking. All in all, I was disappointed with this recipe. I made garam masala and nonya curry powder from scratch and since this is not a recipe I would remake, they are just sitting in the cabinet.

We had this for lunch and it was just lovely. I replaced chicken stock with meat concentrate and snow peas with just plain ol' peas. I also left the bones in the chicken. I used red chillis instead of green and kept the seeds. The spiciness was just perfect. I love the lemon juice because it makes the whole dish fresh. It's a very tasty dish that I will make often. Here's a pic:

Another good one from this cookbook. Preparation was very quick (just a quick whizz of all the ingredients in the thermomix). I let it marinade overnight and just pop it in the oven for 30 mins before serving. The chicken was full of flavor and very juicy. It was also enjoyed very much by the husband packed in a lunchbox with rice. Since I still have lots of miso, will make this again very soon.

Made this tonight for dinner. It was quick and tasty. Will be my go to dinner that can satisfy the whole family and finish up my leftover vegetables.

Hi all,
I have a question regarding this recipe. Is this the right place to post?

I got quite a mushy texture at the end of the cooking. The chicken fillet was shredded. As seen in the picture I posted. Im not sure if this is what it's supposed to be like, or did I do something wrong? The recipe asked for deboned chicken but I used chicken fillet. Pretty much the same thing isn't it?

I have to say, it doesn't look very appetizing...

Introduce Yourself / Hello from Indonesia!

Hi everyone!
Been lurking around for a while but decided to join in the fun! I just got my TM for less than a week but had made more food than I did for the month. I'm really loving this machine. So far I've made meat and veg stock, hainan chicken rice plus chilli (awesome), lychee and mint sorbet (winner), chicken congee (still looking for a good recipe), bread rolls (turned out a bit odd) and cooked lots of nutritious chicken stock for my boy. However, I do feel that there is a lack of Asian food recipe on the net. As in the homey, street food that I'm familiar with. I don't have an Asian cookbook either as i didn't make my purchase in Asia. I'm such a novice that I'm not even bothering to convert recipes to TM version at the moment. So if there is anyone out willing to share their blog or recipes, especially Asian food, it will be really appreciated! I don't have any recipes to swap with yet, but maybe next time when I get a better hang of it! :)
