Chit Chat / Re: Challenge Try something new in TMX this week
« on: August 22, 2012, 11:07:10 am »
Tonight I made the mushroom soup- I too was in a bit of a rut of thermie, making same old same old but this week I tried the honey soy chicken and tonight the soup! Made lasagne today and decided on the cheese sauce instead of plain old bechamel and it was nice! Used cornflour instead of flour- probably makes it a bit thick for my liking!
I like this thread!  :D

I really liked it! I only added about 10gms parsley and I am so looking forward to this for lunch tomorrow. I love the flavour of mushrooms, salt and butter! :) Mine is very thick, I did think it would be a tasty pasta sauce!

A good old casserole dish in the oven can be just as good as a thermoserver too! :)

Hi Ladies

I want to let you in on a little secret I discovered yesterday- for those that are interested in Weight Watchers propoints. I have done w.w. many times, had many successes but like anything, if you don't stay signed up you don't get access to the tools etc and this results in falling off the wagon! Yesterday I discovered an iphone app called "ultimate value diary" which is basically the propoints system- you set up your profile, calculate points etc, it finds them for you on the online database etc. Only a day so far but its going well! You may like to check it out!

Aside from the use of TMX- I just cannot cook rice right!!!! Id love to be able to cook it whilst cooking something else though but I am afraid I just have to use my thermoserver and be patient!

Thats great Amy- cuts out having to cook the rice first or wait for it to cook once you have done the chicken! I am all for faster meals around here! :) Oh my goodness- it looks like that is my FIRST Thermomix suggestion! hahah. Look at that!

Let us know how it goes Amy! :)

I think you could soak them in boiling water and then drain and stir them through on reverse at the end?

Happy household tonight after this one- thanks for it it will be a regular on our menu too- I think it would be delicious with hokien noodles. The chicken was lovely and tender- I can never stir fry it that way! :)

I made this yesterday, really enjoyed it. I love savoury/sweet salads. The only thing I did add to it was a handful of craisins and used pearl cous cous instead of regular.  I made it late arvo and had it as a side to hamburgers (ill post that recipe when I get the chance) By the time I got to eat it the moisture was completely absorbed but still delicious. Having left overs today with some varoma steamed chicken.  ;D

Bread / Re: Thin and crispy pizza dough
« on: August 14, 2012, 12:21:57 am »
I FINALLY got around to making this over the weekend. Well, Hubby did!  ;D He insisted on letting it rise first though much to my dismay "But the others on the forum don't rise there's!!" was my mantra.

The problem I had with it was as others have said, tricky to get onto the stone and I am SHOCKING at getting my pizza dough round!

I am a topping queen so next time less toppings as my vegi pizza was soggy in the middle but hubbys wasn't :)

Bread / Re: Five Seed bread - replaces Cape Seed Bread in EDC book
« on: August 10, 2012, 07:08:39 am »
I made this recently and just couldn't cope with it being so sloppy. I kneaded by hand and added flour until it resembled a soft dough. It was lovely.

Are you referring to the five seed bread of the other one that Judy posted?

Have I read somewhere that you can substitute the egg whites for this with coconut milk? Froze some coconut milk iceblocks last night- hoping you can as i am cooking for someone tonight that cant have raw egg... help!!?
