Interesting - I've been pining after tapioca or sago for a while, but I can only find it with preservatives in it - both at the supermarket and the health food shop.

Any ideas?

I just can't believe it Cathy!!! You wouldn't believe how fanatical I am with looking at labels so when I read this I was like, " No way!"  :( - ran to my cupboard to look at the fresh packet I just bought -- "Ah SULPHITES!!! NoWAY!!!!" >:(:o I'm so mad with myself - now why do they need to put that on sago??   ???    :'(
:-[ Sorry Delveen for having a mental breakdown on your thread! If it is soaked I use the Cream rice recipe from the EDC and sub sago for rice.  ;)

Sorry to ruin your day Nay-nay.  I was hoping for the opposite and that someone had found a brand that was okay.

Might have to find another tapioca recipe.  Sure I'd seen one in a TMX book ??

I use organic Tapioca pearls . The brand is: Markal.

I adapted the recipe from Nourishing Tradition and soak 150g tapioca in 950g milk overnight in the fridge. Cook it for 10 min/100°C/Speed 1 and 30 Min/90°C/ :-:/Speed 1. Add 3 egg yolks with 50g rapadura and lime zest, cook another 5 Min and add the whipped egg whites.

Thanks Tebasile.  I'll keep looking and see if I can find some.  At least I know it's out there now.

according to the failsafe sites (sue dengates sites) it's like gelatine with the sulphites, in that they get boiled off.  Hope that helps.
