Lost Members?
« on: March 28, 2010, 11:19:10 am »
I was just looking at the members list and there's so many members who've registered and have never contributed ever. I know quite a few lurk and post after some time, but there seems to be a huge number of non active members.

I was just thinking is it worth our moderators sending a bulk message to those who haven't posted in case they've lost the link or forgotten their forum name and password?
Is it easy to do that or too laborious a process?

It would be good to gain these members back. Shoot me down in flames if you think that's a silly idea!! ;D

I agree with you MJ and don't understand why you would join a forum and not contribute in some way so I have wondered myself why there are all those names with no postings against them.

Oh, I'm glad you feel the same way Judy! I think perhaps people forget the URL, or they get a new computer and can't remember the password or lots of other reasons. I would just like to re-connect with these people.

Think MM did this a few months ago - but certainly worth trying to encourage more users.

We had book giveaways and other incentives before, but still the same old crowd.  At least the crowd has grown.

I agree. I'm sure that for one reason or another people drop by the way side. If members don't wish to post they can still be forum guests. I know that I am not as frequent a member on a couple of sites I used to use since I got 'Termite'.

if I log on as a guest I can't get the pictures, but if I sign in I can see the pics - maybe thats one of the reasons why people join.

Or they find out they are incubating no.3 :o after quite emphatically stating that '2 will do, thank you' to all and sundry and morning sickness has everything tasting like sawdust. Too ashamed to admit that Hermes was actually put in the cupboard for a while :-[ . Tonight he made me some steamed rice, so I think he still loves me. :)

Yay, one came back to say hello.  Nice to hear from you LA Mummy and congratulations on No. 3 (oops).   Please sit Hermes on the benchtop so that you will use him more often.  You are lucky he cooked the rice for you OK - I'd go on strike if I was banished to a cupboard.  ;D ;D ;D  Hope you are feeling better soon  :-* :-*

Seems ooops are very common.  Mine was no 1 - been married 4 years but I'd just started uni.  When people ask whether she was planned, I say that yes we planned on having her, but she had a different timetable to her parents.
