Title: Marking recipes as favourites
Post by: Lexi on May 13, 2011, 09:11:11 am
Is there a way to mark recipes as favourites so I can mark them and come back to them later? Or do people just write them down to come back to?

I print them out and file them in a 'to do' file in catagories.

As I print off the recipes that I want to try: once I have made the recipe, I give it a tick and a short comment. Recipes with ticks go into a Favourites file, and recipes that don't score a tick go in the bin.

(Its either good enough to make again, or not. There are just too many recipes out there to cook!)

I also print off the ones I want to try. (there are so amny of them). Then when I have tried them I use a dot system. 3 dots is yum do again, 2 dots is don't bother and 1 dot is yuk. the 3 dot recipes all go into a file with comments etc all over them. I have just recently put all my 3 dot TMX recipes into a 100 page file that has plastic envelopes in it. I've titled it Volume one of favourite TMX recipes. Copied from CP63. When I get home I itend to do a page of contents for it.

I copy and paste into a word document and then save in sub folders within a folder of thermie recipes. I print out as I make them or delete if not  - although there has only been 1 dish in the later category. Thanks to all forum members for comments and reviews as this helps reduce the decision making! I often feel that I am more of a caretaker rather than a contributor - I need to prioritize my time so that I can do some recipe reviews and posts. Cheers  :)  :)

You certainly have contributed Robyn - there are 6 of your recipes in the Mains Section.  I for one love your recipes .
Doing reviews is just as important as posting recipes though, it encourages others to try recipes so hats off to you on that score too.  :-* :-*

Hi, I print off the recipe, and make notes of all the changes/hints other people have made. Then when I have tried it, and want to make it again, I wait until I have another recipe in that section eg chicken, put them back to back and laminate them, easy to wipe off spills, then into a folder, under corresponding secion eg, chicken, cakes etc.

I've started using evernote as an intermediary. I put them into evernote and when I've made it,if we like it I print it out. I love evernote as even I can use it.

Living Cookbook is a recipe database program and not really that expensive IMHO. I love it because you can totally tailor it to how you want it. My only gripe  is that it is only windows based.  I already had over 1000  :o :o recipes etc in my database when I bought my Macbook so had to buy VM fusion to run it as I wasn't going to be without it!!!

It's about $35.00 and you can get it online from here (http://www.livingcookbook.com/)  :)

Oh thats not expensive for software i had well over a hundred in my head

Checked out paprika the other day after a suggestion on here and it seems pretty good for recipes only but i still love the flexibility of evernote ....with all the apps around dont know i would pay more than a few dollars for this type of thing..

If I didn't already have such an extensive database on it Kim I would have looked for something Apple based but no way was I going to try and transfer all that info across!! You can export your data but when you export to a different format you don't get all your links, photos and other infer that is there, just your basic ingredients and procedure  :(

All my forum recipes have the authors names, a link back to the forum any tweaks or notes that may have come up on the thread and if Maddy or Julie have made it one of their photos  :D :D (Never hang up the camera's girls!!!  :-* :-* :-*)

I've just used evernote and I really like it. Especially as it sincs(?) the ipad and computer so I put forum recipes on it and then can use the ipad in the kitchen. If it's a good recipe I keep it and put it in my file. I may be saving a couple of trees by not printing them all our first.

I only place recipes on The Living Cookbook that I plan to do again and again...I love the layout...the result is that it really makes your recipes look like something out of a cookbook...try out their free trial version to check it out - if you are curious.

Yes mine don't make it to LCB until they are keepers as well. Too much work if I put everything in there that I wanted to try lol. I also like it that when my kids leave home I can buy them a copy of LCB, export my data file to them and they have all my recipes that  the family like  ;)

Yes it is. I love it and I'm hopeless on the computer. I just downloaded it (free) and now even DD uses it too. I love it as it sincs with the ipad and I can use that in the kitchen for recipes.

For me pc, lptop, ipad and iphone and is ever so handy when shopping if you have forgot omething...

Just went and did a manual sync to see what would happen. No message everything seems fine here. Sorry I cant help. I just noticed that there is a troubleshooter on their site. If you go to online help under the help menu it will take you to the right area. Also there is a forum which might help and you can log a ticket for a technician to help. Sorry that's all I have.

I'm not sure if I should start a new thread but I was thinking that maybe we could add a 'save' button on posts so we can save a recipe similar to how it is done on taste.com.au. Then we could have a folder of all the recipes we want to save. I'm not keen on cutting and pasting and I don't always use the ipad.

Tasty MM told us a while back that there are going to be changes made to the forum so I would hang on until we see exactly what they are - even us moderators don't know what the changes are going to be but it shouldn't be too far off happening now.
