I've basically kept mine for when DD shifts. She does use the rice cooker and a couple of other things when we are away.
I no longer use my bread maker, rice cooker and stick blender. I still use my hand mixer on occasions for cakes and egg whites.  I have a perfectly good Kenwood in the cupboard but I don't think I would get rid of that.

Questions? Technical Issues? The Survival Guide / Thermomix mat
« on: July 04, 2010, 07:52:31 am »
I was very late in purchasing one of these mats to roll my bread etc on and have only had mine for 6 months or so. I love it to bits and don't know why I waited so long.
I noticed when I used it this morning it has a tiny tear on one edge. I could have done this myself so am not too worried. My concern is how is the best way to store these please? I have just been folding it in two and popping it in a cupboard. I think it may have caught on something in there and torn the edge. Is it best to roll it or fold it?
Thanks in advance. :-*

Judy how exciting. My DH thinks they are the best little cars on the road. DD had one for her first car and it was wonderful.  What colour did you buy?

Welcome zebraa. I'm glad the Thermomix has helped you with your cooking. It certainly makes things much easier to do.

Mine too.  Sometimes it whistles, sometimes it doesn't.

I'm tired reading that Chookie. I've subscribed to Masterchef. I got 11 copies for $38 which I thought was ok.

Judy I made your chicken soup-it is beautiful. I also made Kathryn's white chocolate and lemon biscuits. They are also very nice.

That is serious de-cluttering. I never got like that with DD, perhaps because she was a bit prem.

I was hoping that George would say has anyone a Thermomix and could they please come and close this-but he didn't. I was quite near the front too.
He and Gary were very funny, the had a few nice digs at Matt Preston and took him off.

ILB I remember your friend, there was only 1 girl on the BB stand and one guy. She was lovely. I tried a red and wasn't fond of it as I don't really like reds (except Cienna) and then I tried a pink bubbly one, can't remember it's name, but it was nice. I prefer whites and of course Moscato's and I like Rose too.
I know what you mean about people being drunk. I arrived at 10.10am and girls/women were tucking into the wine then. After I had seen G & G I had a few tastes and some of the women then were rather tipsy.

I also love Poh's Kitchen. I've bought the ingredients to made her Onde Onde but haven't done it yet.
Sorry can't help you with the Pandan leaves.

Well I had a great time, eating and drinking my way round and round and back again.
I went to see Gary Mehigan and George C. George did indeed use the TMX, the first time to blend beetrot and fetta for a dip type of thing and the second time was for blending again.(he made hummous) They only flew in this morning and George had trouble closing the lid of the TMX the first time he used it. He and GAry are producing a book that will come out later in the year. They both take similar ingredients and make something with them, and this is what they demonstrated today. They spoke about Masterchef a fair bit.
ILB I tasted lots of Brown Brothers wines, I knew you would want me too!
I would have liked to attend a cheese masterclass but there were none on today.
I also saw my very first truffle. They smell beautiful. I did buy some truffle oil and look forward to using it.

I'm off to the Perth Good Food and Wine Show today. I'm curious to see if the TMX will be there. It wasn't last year and I was a little disappointed. It would be lovely to see it being promoted there.
Will let you know when I get home.

I think you are smart keeping your books clean. I write all over mine. I have a dot system rating the recipe and once permanent adjustments are made I write them into the book. Neatly of course, between all the speckles that accidently get on them.
