OMG Good Chocolate Banana Thickshakes
« on: November 28, 2010, 09:41:08 am »
Hi everyone,

One of my boys favourite drinks at the moment are chocolate milkshakes. I very rarely made them before the arrival of our TMX but have been considering buying a cow to keep up with the new demand. Anyway, I was making them with milk and chocolate topping and then adding some frozen strawberries. They were good but I wanted to eliminate the chocolate topping but didn't know how.

Then my TMX demonstrator lent me Cyndi O'Meara's cookbook and I saw her recipe for Chocolate Milkshake using 2 frozen bananas, 1 cup of milk, 2 tsp of unsweetened cocoa, and 2 tsp of honey. I threw it all in the TMX and whizzed it on speed 9 until there weren't any chunks left and WOW! Who knew milk could taste so good!

My first few attempts did result in honey sitting on the bottom of the bowl though, so now I leave the honey out, start the TMX on speed 3 and drizzle the honey in. Then increase to speed 9.

I have also added strawberries - yum! In fact last night my nephew was visiting and he doesn't like chocolate, so I left out the cocoa and added more frozen strawberries.

It is (almost) not an overstatement to say that our lives may never be the same!

Enjoy if the weather ever heats up again...

Funny how Perth is getting some heat Kerryn but Adelaide & Melbourne have hardly had much at all. I can imagine having children around wanting drinks all the time - you will need that cow  ;) - the demand is only going to get stronger with school holidays looming.

Have you seen this recipe http://www.forumthermomix.com/index.php?topic=278.0 - something a little different but very nice.

Well done Kerryn.

Seems we get teased with a few days of heat and then nearly drowned! Oh well, one of the charms of living in Melbourne...

I have seen that one JD and I have actually got two avocados ripening to try it out. I must admit I am a bit nervous but if nothing else, my TMX is teaching me to try lots of combinations I wouldn't have otherwise.

Glad you all enjoyed it Mezza. For mother's day last year my son actually referenced these milkshakes as one of the reasons he loves his mum!

I was pretty excited today when the daughters of one of my Thermomix customers created this YouTube demo of Chocolate Banana Thickshake from the recipe in Rawlicious:
