The only time I have used a convection microwave was at a demo for bread rolls, they turned out beautifully. I think because you cook from cold in the edc recipe they had a great chance to rise slowly before cooking. They were so big, light and soft!

I have one too and mine is a sharp carousel  :)

I have had it for a few years and was the only thing I used for baking until I got my new oven, now I use it as a second oven if I am cooking at different temps  ;)

If I only need to cook something small or for a short period of time I use it or for scrolls in the summer if I need to make ups top up batch as it certainly doesn't make the kitchen as hot!

Well the sharp carousel microwaves must be the best then ;)

And yes I found it great also on really hot days and much quicker to bake something as it really only takes around 1 or 2 minutes to preheat were my oven takes at least 10 minutes.

Mine is relatively newish (about 4 years old I think) so probably not quite as big as the others and also has a top and bottom grill in it too. I can also cook in 2 layers with the racks that came with it.

The only thing we use a microwave for now is heating up heat bags and emergency defrosting if I forget to take the meat out (which is often at the moment lol) so not sure what we would do if it packed it in ... fingers crossed it has many years left in it yet!  :D

I have used mine to proof the dough with the microwave - particularly dough that has been in the fridge - then taking the dough out, covering it while the convection preheats, and then baking it.

They sound so good I am definitely buying one.
There are a couple on eBay for sale in my area and nothing on gumtree.
Good to know they are easy to clean too.

I'm really glad this thread started.  I have a convection microwave that like a couple of other people, I tend to forget is convection.  I will have to have a go at baking my bread in it over the weekend.  I just never think of it.  Its inspired me to get my instruction book out and have a look!
