Thanks all - Fonzie is our first guide dog so it's going to be very hard to give him back. Something I thought I'd never be able to do.

We ended up as puppy raisers after I lost Storm last year. She was a beautiful rottweiler and she got cancer. I did everything we could for her but it's didn't stop it going to her spine and we had to have her PTS. I am still shattered (and crying now)

I figure, that when Fonzie goes, he's going to go off and do something great for someone. He's not dead. He's going to make someone's life so much better. I'm sure there's going to be tears when he goes, lots and lots and lots of them. But I'll be able to recover from it knowing he's ok.

It's so rewarding - he's so much fun and such a big part of our lives.

Jadey - such a gorgeous dog!  You're very brave - I would find the parting way too hard after 12 months!

I once followed a lab (guide dog) puppy down the road with his trainer and was totally amazed and impressed that the puppy actually walked straight past the butcher's shop without even stopping or slowing down - training a labrador to walk past a food source must take a lot of time!  ;D

I do take my hat off to you Jadey, you are doing a wonderful thing - good luck to you and your puppy.

I don't think my Sox would be too happy! He's 17 and a bit grumpy. When I was a little girl my family looked after a guide dog puppy, but he failed. Probably not a good idea for me.

On the weekend, I had the heart breaking task of having Harry put to sleep. I miss him so much.
He was great companion and I was privileged to have him for nearly 10 years. Such a loss.  :'(
