Thought this sounds interesting. Has anyone made it?

I’ve almost made it LOL. I haven’t got any celery seeds and I haven’t been able to find them in Woolies or Drakes. Everything else is in a bowl waiting for that ingredient. My DD is vegetarian so I wanted to make a chicken soup with some to see if it tastes like chicken, it would be so handy for her to add flavour to her food.

I also saw this recipe and plan to make it. Like you, Judy, I couldn't find celery seeds but I see that Alyce now stocks this item. I actually got my hands on some celery salt at Vic market so will substitute with this and see how it tastes.

Yes Coles and Woolies don't seem to stock the celery seeds any more. On spice sites I see they are a product of India, so maybe if you have any Indian grocers nearby you might find them there? Otherwise the place below sells them and their postage is only $3.50 regardless on how many things you buy. I've bought from them quite a few times, so if you need any flours, grains, seeds etc it's a good time to stock up at only $3.50 delivery. They are based in WA so will take a couple of weeks at the moment to get to you, so I'd certainly try Indian grocers first. :)

Thanks Julie, I had a quick look before I went for my haircut (finally) and I saw several things on the list that I need and cannot buy at local supermarkets at the moment so later I’ll send an order through. No hurry for the celery seeds so delivery time is OK by me.

That's good to hear Judy. They seem like a good mob. :D
-
I saw this too and was wondering about it. I actually have some celery seeds so can go ahead.
-
I'll be interested in hearing what you think, Cookie.

I’ve just finished making this stock powder as Katie brought some celery seeds around for me prior to my order being delivered. I haven’t anything to cook to use it at the moment so I put 2 tsp in a mug of boiling water and it’s so full of flavour as I expected. A great one for our vegetarians although anyone can use it, I certainly will be trying it when chicken stock is called for.
-
That's great to hear Judy, I will make up a half a batch in the coming days as I have everything ready to go. I'm thinking it may be nice to add a tsp or 2 to things just as a flavour boost too. You can usually rely on AA's recipes.
Nice of Katie to give you some seeds too instead of having to wait. :)

I agree Julie, a flavour boost like Tenina’s umami paste. It does make a lot so half quantity makes sense. I’ll give some of mine away. 2 minutes seemed a long time to grind all the herbs etc down to a powder.

I set out to make this a couple of days ago and although I have celery seeds I didn’t have nutritional yeast. 🙄🙄🙄🙄
-
Would you like me to post some over to you cookie, my packet is large enough to share.
-
I made this at the weekend as well, but didn't have celery seeds ... I used something called Australian chicken salt instead so I will end up with an entirely different product. Will try it next weekend.
-
I’m quite happy with this stock powder after using it to make my Potato & Sweetcorn soup today https://www.forumthermomix.com/index.php?topic=911.msg4917#msg4917 instead of liquid chicken stock. I did have to add some salt at the end though.
-
No, I will make some thanks Judy. Our immigration/customs guys are so super efficient they will probably take it.
-
That's great to know Judy.
Cookie, you can buy the Nutritional yeast now at Coles in their Health foods aisle (if you have one close).

Thanks JulieO. I have a Coles, Woolworths and an Aldi at the shopping centre I go too. There aren't many other shops there but that's all I need for grocery shopping.
