My demos usually go for 2 - 2.5 hrs ... My one last night though went on for nearly 3.5!! They didn't stop chatting & exclaiming about the TMX & asking questions & getting totally off track  :D ..  None of them had seen it before, but they were all "experts" by the end of the night & each guest telling the other reasons why they absolutely needed it! Hilarious. They were blown away. I love demos like that!!

I'm off to my "personalised" demo in 30 mins! .. (Wonder, I'm in Newport in Melbourne.. Not sure I could rustle up anyone with such short notice though  ;D )

Emma, that is terrific that you've got your guests coming!! Good for you x

I absolutely get where you're coming from Emma.. and it's good to read that you've now got a friend coming along.

I had the exact same thing happen to me - not once, but three times. Some people just don't want to come because they think they're going to put in a difficult position of having to buy.

From the other side of the coin - I am now a consultant and 2 days ago a lady emailed me to say she had to cancel Saturday's demo (for the 2nd time) due to people cancelling.

I know she wants to see the TMX & it's hard for both her husband & her to get to classes.

I've offered to do a very brief demo with her & her husband on Saturday, just for an hour or so. I'm just going to make a Fruity Dream and a Pumpkin Soup, so they get an idea of what the TMX can do. She will be providing the main ingredients & she knows there's no host rewards, but is quite grateful that I'm still taking the time to show her.

Maybe, if your full demo doesn't go ahead, your consultant (if she doesn't live too far away), might be able to do something similar. You provide all the ingredients and s/he just does a very basic demo.

Good luck,
Karen

My GL and friends tell me I'm particularly zealous & passionate about Thelma, so it is fantastic to hear others who are just as crazy about it as I am!

Isn't it just the best thing you've ever bought!!!! Unbelievable!! ... That's it, bugger the filing, I'm going off to play in the kitchen!  ;D

Chit Chat / Re: Freezer Meals
« on: August 25, 2011, 12:46:17 pm »
I am so happy to find this old thread! I'm going through a bit of a phase where I'd love to have meals already made for quick dinners, but am always so unsure of what will freeze & what won't.

Currently, I have meatballs, bolognaise sauce, tartlet casings, chicken nuggets, pizza dough, cookie dough, chicken & vege soup, croissant dough & chicken schnitzels, but want more "whole meals", so this thread is going to help a lot.

Thanks as always everyone for making my life so much easier,
Karen

Whoo-hoo!!!!

I got my Thermomix on the 14th September 2010. Will remember that date forever.. (What's my wedding anniversary date??  :P)

First heard about it 4 years ago.. Friend of a friend was extolling the virtues of it & the mashed potatoes it produced. I thought "Bugger - a lot of money for mashed potatoes!".. She loved cooking - I didn't - so I didn't take too much notice.

Fast-forward August last year. Life wasn't great. I'd lost my brother the month before and it had shaken up the whole family, but we were trying to move forward. He'd suffered from debilitating arthritis his whole life, so we knew he was out of pain. The loss was huge though.

My consultant-friend invited me to a cooking class. I decided to go, just for something to do.

That was it. I was absolutely gobsmacked. I hated cooking, but had to. I wanted to feed my children healthy meals, but had always resented being in the kitchen. I knew this thing would help me - with my cooking and just in general state-of-mind stuff. It excited me.

My husband was against it. He "knew" it would sit in the cupboard once the novelty wore off  :-))  The more I researched, the more I realised just how much it would help me. The fact that it could help with my son's food intolerances was the clincher.

Four weeks later I had it. 2 weeks after that I was training to be a consultant.

My parents say I have a new zest for life. They're right. All because of a kitchen appliance! :D

Changed the way I do things?!?!? Ohhhhhhhh where do I start!!!!

I've written about this before, so some members already know my story, but...

I am married to an Italian and have 2 small children. The women in my husband's family are great cooks. I mean Great Cooks! I was intimidated, extremely anxious & had zero confidence when it came to contributing to family functions. Hosting would make me physically ill.

I cooked because I wanted my family to eat as healthily as possible & yes, because it was expected of me, but I despised being in the kitchen. Hated it.

Thermomix has changed every facet of my life. As dramatic as that sounds, it has. I make things now that I would never have dreamed of attempting. I feel so much more confident, not just cooking, but it's spread to other areas of my life, since becoming a consultant.

I'm getting over my fear of driving in unfamiliar places (I'm very embarrassed to admit that, but there ya' go). I'm learning to get over my shyness with meeting new people. I'm feeling worthwhile as an individual again, rather than just being a "mum".

I love having control of what I feed my children. I love trying new things. Tonight, I even experimented with steaming some salmon fillets with orange slices & maple syrup. I'd never have done that in a million years. I was strictly a tried-&-true recipe girl.

You get the picture? I LOVE IT! ;D
