Hello everyone!
Newbie here and happy owner to my 3 week old TMX. Not so pleased with the MC, though. After grinding spices for tikka paste, my MC suffered a crack and some strange cloudy spots. I treat my kitchen gadgets very gently so this is a big disappointment. My consultant was quick to send me a new MC. However, I would like to know if the MC is really this delicate or was I just unlucky enough to get a "bad" MC for it to break so easily by just grinding spices! :(
I'm now hesitant to use the new MC in case it happens again.
Thanks.

Sorry to say, there has been a bad batch of measuring cups in Australia this year. It is nothing you have done. They start cracking and going cloudy straight away. Thermomix is working on it. Meantime just report to your consultant and then sit back for service, service, service.

Hi Doreetos, welcome to the forum. I've had my machine for 5 years and although my MC went cloudy early on (maybe due to heat), it's still in good condition so if the MC's are cracking HO should continue to replace them until the manufacturers get it right.
-
I drop my MC on my hard floor occasionally and it bounces Doreetos :D :D you don't have to treat it with kit gloves. As Ceclia says Vorweck has a problem at the moment .
-
Keep your cracked one - if it is still useable - for times when you do grind spices Doreetos. I have one MC that is cloudy and I use that one when I make dishes with turmeric or grinding spices.
A tip for the Tikka paste though...I place a piece of plastic wrap over the bowl, then put on the lid, then whizz it til it is smooth. Keeps the lid clean!
Also when I grind dry spices I put a piece of paper towel on the bowl then put on the lid. Less messy again.
Oh and welcome! This is the place for fab recipes, friendly chats and answers to any questions ;D ;D

I have 3 mcs, 1 perfect, 1 slightly cloudy & 1 white :)

Thank you cecilia, judydawn, cornish cream, nikkit and halex!
Great service from my consultant. Simply waiting for my new MC to arrive in the mail.
-
I need to order another. Replacement mc is cracking now too.
-
Like CC, my cup bounces regularly across the kitchen floor. Very strong little cup. Glad you have a replacement. Cloudy, but works fine.
-
Mine bounces beautifully on the slate floor and I have to chase it all over the place :D
-
Mine bounces well too on the tiles. Unfortunately VB stubbies, eggs and Pyrex jugs do not 😁

I got my Thermomix for myself for Xmas (Dec 22nd received) and the MC was glazed and had a shattered in appearance within 2 days. I had my demo on Saturday night and told my consultant then and she has ordered me a new one. My Thermie has not been anywhere near my dishwasher yet (I am babying it!) and the MC has not been dropped on to floor etc.. Glad to hear it was not just me! Pleased with the service from my consultant :).

Vanny, good to hear your consul lent is looking after you. Hope you have fun with your TMX.
-
Yes, welcome to the forum vanny.
-
Yes definitely a bad batch I have had 2 MCs replaced & a varoma lid since getting TM in May last year.
-
Vanny, welcome, fellow newbie :) Apparently we are still in the honeymoon stage with our TMXs!
Kmw, does that mean there are also bad Varoma lid batches? I hope I have been spared from this one.
-
Yes I'm ready for number 3 mc and second varoma lid.
-
Doreetos looks that way but my varoma lid took many uses before starting to split. I should have said other than the MC & varoma lid (replaced very quickly through my consultant), I haven't had any problems with TM and loving the recipes we are making especially with the help from the forum :)
-
I love my TM too and use it daily but I wonder how these faulty parts could slip through production? ???
Varoma hasn't been really getting much use for us (I know, we should!).
Kmw and itsnoartitsdinner, for your 2nd and 3rd replacements, did you have to pay for it?
-
No under warranty :)
-
I have had my machine for 6 years, have 4 bowls and 2 varoma's that have been earned over my time when I was a consultant ... of which HO have just replaced 2 MC lids and a varoma lid last month. I have another to MC's that need to be replaced.
They are not questioning but replacing in good faith as they are playing with the formula apparently to try and improve them and in the mean time those that are not up to scratch are being replaced. Just contact your consultant and they will put in a service request for you.
You do not have to be under warranty to get your replacements for this :) :)

its pretty obvious that they cannot try to pass on blame for something you have done for these parts, as all you can do is steam in them. It would be obvious if you had tried to do anything other than the norm like put them in the oven or mistreated them. It riles me that the blades and shaft are not able to withstand the normal wear and tear of domestic use yet they are able to say we have "overloaded" them at one stage or another, and thats all they need to say to cover themselves. When it comes to MC lids and the paying price is only about $15 but the price of blade is about $195 I find that I have little respect for HO.
-
Blades are now $115 CP - http://www.thermomix.com.au/products/thermomix-accessories.aspx?p=2
-
without looking at the pricelist, maybe I was thinking of the jug. I think they have been up around $150, and last time I think I mightve paid the lower price
-
The blades were originally $150 CP... Can't remember exactly when they dropped the price to $115. When my DD bought me some blades in Germany I think she paid the equivalent of around $85 (Aust)....
