Dumb question... How is it different from plain flour, for example. Is it just a finer grind???

Introduce Yourself / Howdy! Another newbie!

Hi all!
So I am ordering my TM on Monday.

Hubby was originally very much against it - long story short, I've just had another baby so i am on maternity leave (so no income) and hubby (bless him) is an accountant (read: tightarse!) so all I could do previously was buy the *hides* Thermochef.

My sister had a thermomix which is where I got the want for one from. (Sorry for the tragic English, I'm deprived of human contact right now!)

So anyway, as I'm sure you've all heard before, I hated using it. Everything stuck, it was soooooo fiddly pressing the buttons all the time, and the deal breaker... You can't put the bowl in the dishwasher to clean it.

Last week hubby picked the lid off the draining board and part of the locking mechanism snapped off!

I think from there he was happy to admit defeat and accept that it was inferior.
... And then the email from the rep came telling me of the current 12 mths interest free offer ...

Just a bit about myself... I am a mum of 4 boys, ages are 15, 13, 9 and 1 month. (Going back to work 1 April) we live in Melbourne.

The older 2 have ADHD however we have managed to eat fresh for quite some time which has made quite a difference.

I'm not really getting it to exclude preservatives or additives, I'm more getting it for the simplicity. I've been scouring through recipes and to be honest I'm really excited about learning how to use it whilst I'm on leave with the baby. First challenge will be bread... Then meals. I have 15-20 kilos I want to lose also, I'm hoping this will be a perk of the machine but all I really want to do is master quick usage before I return to work and my life resembles utter chaos!!

If you've got this far, thanks for reading... And I really appreciate the enthusiasm and the recipes around here.

Cathy
