Chit Chat / Tenina's new e-book
« on: September 09, 2012, 06:40:55 am »
On her fb page tenina mysteriously commented on something new coming up on her blog store over the weekend. A quick peek reveals that it is an e book called just desserts. Havent bought an e book before but will buy this unseen. All tenina's recipes are fantastic.

Chit Chat / Asian cooking class
« on: January 22, 2012, 05:40:39 am »
My consultant has just sent information about an Asian class here in Adelaide next month. I think this is the first SA one. Has anyone been to this class yet? I believe some were held interstate last year. It costs $30 so I'd like to know it will be worthwhile forking out the cash!

Chit Chat / Any hints from pasta dough makers?
« on: August 26, 2011, 07:55:22 am »
I'm planning on making fresh pasta dough for the first time in my TMX, does any one have any hints before I give it a go? I've seen the 100g flour to 1 egg ratio but I also remember reading in other post that others have had no success with this and got a breadcrumb consistency.

Chit Chat / Favourite EDC Recipes
« on: July 27, 2011, 07:43:57 am »
Last night I made the 5 seed bread from the EDC for the first time.

It was so delicious, I can't believe I havent made it yet. I've often felt wary of cooking from the EDC after having a few disasters!

Now that I'm discovering the EDC again I would love to know what other recipes members like, even with the odd tweak here and there!

Chit Chat / Basic or Varoma demo?
« on: June 23, 2011, 04:58:00 am »
Just recently I've had a number of friends and work mates who have been asking lots of questions about the Thermomix so I have decided to have another demo.

The group will mainly consist of 30 somethings who are looking to be able to make healthy food from scratch mixed in with some who want to be able to make good quality meals for them and their friends.

I've had both demo's but I'm interested in which demo others think is the best one to go for with this type of group. I just wish there was a combination!

Recipe Requests / Whiskey for home made Baileys
« on: April 17, 2011, 08:51:20 am »
Thought I might try my hand at the Irish Liqueurs and home made Baileys that have been posted. When it states to use whiskey, is that scotch whiskey or bourbon whiskey? I'm not a whiskey lover on its own so I have no idea here!

Bread / Hints on proving bread on a cooler day?
« on: March 14, 2011, 01:53:42 am »
My first bread disaster yesterday. It was a cooler day here in the Adelaide Hills and my bread just wouldnt rise. I use the no fuss recipe and leave it to rise in the bowl, which it didnt.

Does anyone have any hints or tips on getting bread to rise on a cooler day? I've heard about putting in a warm car but thats parked in the garage, and there were no warm rooms in the house at all. I havent had a bread disaster since I first got Thermie!

Recipe Requests / Rock Cake Recipe?
« on: March 01, 2011, 04:27:39 am »
I love rock cakes and thought I'd give them a try if anyone has a recipe. There's one in the EDC I think, but I'm always reluctant to try recipes in that book!

Easter / Hot Cross Buns - which recipe to use?
« on: February 01, 2011, 11:02:17 am »
Armed with my new found bread/bun making confidence I thought I would get started on a practice round of HCB's before I serve them to my work mates. I've seen the reviews and trawled through the many pages on the forum.

My question now is, which is the best recipe to use? they all look divine!

Bread / Technique for pull aparts
« on: January 23, 2011, 02:16:27 am »
Visited our local farmers market this morning and noticed people queuing up for some very nice looking pull apart bread loaves (although they called them rippers think Bakers Delight call them pull aparts) for the hefty price of $7 each. They were filled with things like capsicum and fetta, herb and garlic. Thought I could make them myself and for probably a lot less.

Has anyone made one before, and how are they filled? they were in the shape of a small bread loaf.

Chit Chat / Travelling with Thermomix?

Does anyone know how to get a copy of this book? I've heard you need to have a demo and you get it for half price, but I've had 2 already and don't really want to hold another one!

Chit Chat / A bit peeved....
« on: January 04, 2011, 10:35:36 am »
Its a bit of a story but I'll be quick...

I've been working with a friend in her quest to purchase a TMX. She came to my demo and liked it but wanted to see more so she attended a couple of back to basics classes - at my expense. Between my demo and her deciding to buy one, my consultant is no longer consulting. So, I needed to find another one as no one notified me of who my new consultant is (not even sure if thats what they do). Called HO, found one in our area, emailed the consultant and put her in touch with my friend.

My friend has now purchased one, and I'm very happy for her of course. What has peeved me though is that I didnt even get a thank you call or email from this consultant for what would have been a very easy sale.

I just think there is a lot of work that goes on behind the scenes in promoting this wonderful machine with absolutely no acknowledgment.

Happy to hear any views if I'm expecting too much!
