Cuilidh, I've made many bbq sauces over the years but never found 'the one'.  I've had this recipe saved to give it a try soon as it does sound good.

I  have a feeling I made a Bourbon BBQ sauce by Nic Moretti years ago. It was very nice. I will check it out this evening when we get back from Rockingham.

Marina, it depends what you want to eat it with.
The sweet chilli tomato based one on my blog is very popular for steak and sausages.
Plum sauce is nice on most things and very easy to make.
For other things I make sauces up.
