We were lucky enough to see these beautiful flowers for ourselves earlier in the week when we had the chance to swing by Chookie and Ral's place for a very quick visit.  It was a wonderful visit but way too brief (we got lost on the way there and had to back-track 40 kms so arrived late) but, as always, we were given the warmest of welcomes and, despite me saying no food, just a cup of coffee, we were, of course, treated to cakes, nibbles and dips so by the time we left we waddled out to the car!  We hadn't seen them for ages so it was lovely to have this short time together again.

Marina, agreed, visit far too short. It continues  to amaze me when you have true friends you just pick up where you were  when you last met.

I recently heard about a thing called an "Earthing Blanket" over the Xmas break.

We were having dinner with our friends and as my hostess is a homeopath and is a very caring lady, we were discussing my insomnia (often waking at 1.00 or 2.00 am and not being able to get back to sleep after that).  She told me about the Earthing Blanket she has started using.  Apparently it has many benefits, among them helping you to sleep.  I immediately purchased one and put it on the bed for the first time on Monday of this week ... and what a difference, I have been sleeping until 6.00 most mornings, sometimes a little earlier sometimes a little later.  Is it psychological? ... I don't know, but so far I am really happy with the results.

Should anyone be interested there are several around on the web but I would be happy to give you the name of the one I purchased (as it was the one that my friend used I simply went with her recommendation as I know she spent quite a while researching all the options before she made her decision)  As well as getting the one for herself, she has since purchased them for her two daughters and MIL!

I have been busy buying things over the holidays.

Following on from one of RTE's posts last month I purchased two of the recipe books she listed - one called Community which was salad based recipes and the second one was Cool Beans ... well, what else would I buy but another book with bean recipes?  Actually both are really good, especially the bean one.  I'll be trying out a couple of recipes from each of them over the next week or so.

Marina, I certainly would be interested in the Earthing Blanket.
The recipe books that RTE recommend,  I have most of them.  :D

Yesterday Coles had spiralizers out for sale so I weakened and bought one. DS and I tried it out last night and we both think it was a waste of money.

That's not good Mab.

Your blanket sounds interesting Marina. Who cares if it really works or not, as long as it works for you. Fortunately I don't have any trouble sleeping.

We picked our car up this morning. I've just had a drive of it. It's very nice, but I'm still not willing to get rid of my red terror.
