oh my gosh...I've had my book for a past week now...and I'm in love! Awesome book and love reading through recipes whenever I have spare time. Will write some reviews of the things I've tried so far.

If you're thinking about getting this book, you should! You'll love it! There's a lot of work that's been put into the book by Alyce and her team and a huge number of recipes to try...it's packed full of amazing looking things. (I ran out of sticky labels as there were too many things on my 'must-try' list!)  ;)

Recipe Book Recipe Reviews / Recipe Review Polenta Chips QFITT Pge 54
« on: October 02, 2013, 04:11:46 pm »
I made the Polenta chips from this recipe book and they were perfect! I've only had polenta once before this attempt and I was not a fan at all (I think it must have been the instant polenta, and it was very ordinary). However, I bought the proper polenta, as stated in the ingredients list, for this recipe and followed the method to the letter...apart from adding on an extra 10 minutes of cooking time (could have been my oven, but I like my chippies a little bit crisper...you know, with a few brown crunchy bits :)

The result....awesome chips! The extra cooking time made them a little more crispy which was to my liking. The method was so easy to follow and it worked a treat! Great recipe, great result!

Will I be making them again??? I already have!

I made the Spicy dipping sauce to go with them as suggested in the book and we had them alongside my cauliflower pizza!

Another winner from this amazing cookbook!  ;D

Wow! Thank you so much for your replies! You've both gone into a lot of depth and helped me reach a decision...I think I have to buy the new EDC, and JD, after reading your explanation, you're spot on...it's much easier to let the TMX do all the work and I could be doing something else instead of waiting around in the kitchen for the kettle to boil etc. Good thinking!

Another cookbook to ad to the collection...I will need to go through some of my old ones and pass them on I think! :)

I could be crazy, but I can't see a review of the Minestrone soup fromt he old EDC? Would it be on this thread anywhere, or does that mean that no one has reviewed it yet?

I read elsewhere on the forum (I think it was in the review of the new EDC minestrone soup recipe) that there were some complaints about the old recipe.

does anyone have any tweaks they do of the recipe?! Thanks! :)

Thanks for posting the pic fo the recipe! I don't have the new EDC either so the recipe was a huge help! We all love poached eggs in this house!

Sorry if this question has been bought up elsewhere....but in step one, where it says to heat 11 mins/varoma/speed 1...is it really necessary to do that? Or can I just boil the kettle, add the water from the kettle into the TM bowl and then continue to heat until it gets to varoma temp? Sorry, I've always wondered this, cos it seems like it would be much quicker to boil n the kettle?

Also, do you guys think it's worth getting the new EDC? Are there many new recipes or tweaks to recipes in the older EDC?

Thanks :)

Hey! Thanks so much CC. That's such a lovely gesture!

Just wondering if anyone owns a copy of this book yet? Is it a must for any chocoholic? Any reviews yet?

I love her cookbooks so I'll definitely be saving up for this one...it might have to wait until Christmas  :-\

I think I'm going to have to have a look at Kitchenware Direct! I normally stay well clear of kitchenware shops...the last time (and actually the only time) I bought something from Peter's of Kensington...well, I went a little bit crazy! A few days later I had a huge box delivered full of goodies! I banned myself from using it too often! :)

I feel a little bit of temptation coming on to go back and check it out! :) Bring it on!  :D

Will need to do some more research!

I've seen this book advertised on her website and I am so keen to buy it! But, like you, I was hoping to read some reviews on it to see if it's worth the money! Anything chocolate related is most likely worth it...especially if it's chocolate that's good for you!!!  ;D
