Okay, I asked mum about the falafel, and she said she used tinned chick peas and added a little flour to bind them, rolled them in breadcrumbs & shallow fried them. A little different than the recipe, but not much. Kids loved them. CreamPuff, the siphon is like a cream siphon - you know the ones that have the little gas bottle and they fluff the cream up as you squirt it out? I think.

Oh, I don't know - mum made them! I'll ask her.

Should work fine, Wonder - just add the chicken pieces towards the end as they only need warming.

Hi folks,
It's so interesting to hear all your comments about In the Mix.
I'm glad that some of you are finding lots of inspiration and sorry that others feel it's not the book for them. My intention was to create a book that looks lovely on the coffee table (or in the teetering pile of books by the bed) but that is also an inspiration and practical companion for cooking.
Some recipes are quick and easy
For example -
* the basic cake (p197) - I made this one yesterday, stirred Thermomixed rhubarb through the batter, knocked everyone's socks off * nishime (p131), a Japanese noodle dish with steamed vegetables * lentil soup with saffron eggs (p64) * muesli slice (p202) * pesce puttanesca (p122) - it's steamed fish over a tomatoey sauce...mmm
I agree that some dishes are not 'everyday' - or even 'every week' - meals ... still, there are some special occasion dishes and it was indeed my idea that you can pick and mix elements from recipes to create lots of different dishes.
For example -
* serve the lime & chervil mayo (p218) with the confit salmon (p109) * pour tempered chocolate (p158) over freshly ground pink peppercorns and a dusting of salt, then break it into shards to serve as a dessert nibble * serve the parsley oil (p125) as dipping oil for crusty bread * serve the almond gazpacho (p89) as a starter
It's troubling to hear that some have tried to get the book and haven't been able to yet. There is a dedicated order email: inthemix@thermomix.com.au - maybe that's the best bet.
Happy Thermomixing!
Dani
Thanks for all the great ideas Dani!!!! That's what I love about your book - so many recipes that you can use parts of to make something else - never ending inspiration!! That chocolate idea sounds right up my alley! And I'll have to try that cake too - your pic on FB looked great!

I agree Bootobethin!! And I can't wait to try the truffles too - with coconut cream instead of dairy cream Busy working on a dairy free double layer flourless chocolate fudge cake atm though, so no more chocolate for a while...

That's so funny - I haven't made these for ages and I just started making them for dinner tonight, then saw your comment! Got a heap of dead ripe tomatoes at the food festival yesterday when the vege stalls were packing up... lots of cheap veges - yay!! (Organic too!)
