Judy,  did you add the grated lemon zest and Parmesan in when tasty cheese was added?

Here's a printable version of this recipe for anyone interested. It might not be as colourful as Ayla's version but will be easier to follow  ;D ;D ;D I've given duel weights where I reduced those amounts to suit us.

AYLA'S TWEAKED MORNAY PASTA FROM EDC - would serve 4 - 6 people

Zest of 1 lemon
50g parmesan cheese
100 - 150g tasty cheese -  to taste
2 cloves garlic
3 shallots or spring onions
stick of celery (optional)
30 - 50g butter
400g can diced tomatoes
75g dry white wine
500g water and 2 tspns concentrated vegetable stock or ready made chicken or vegie stock.
2 dried chillis or 1/8 tspn dried chopped chillies to taste
300g penne pasta
400g can tuna, drained
small can corn kernels (opt)
200g cream
S & P to taste

Place lemon zest and parmesan cheese into TMX bowl and grate for 10 sec/speed 8.  Set aside.
Place tasty cheese into the bowl and grate for 10 sec/speed 8.  Set aside.
Throw the peeled garlic cloves onto blades running at speed 7 for 5 seconds.
Add the celery pieces (if using), chunks of shallots or spring onions and turbo burst once to chop.
Scrape down the sides, add the butter and saute for 2 mins/100o/speed 1.
Add tomatoes, chillies, wine and stock to the bowl and cook for 5 mins/100o/speed 1.
Add uncooked pasta, drained corn and flaked tuna and cook for 10 mins/100o/reverse/speed 1.
Add tasty cheese and cream, stir with spatula to incorporate then cook 1-2 mins/100o/reverse/speed 2 or 3.
Check for seasoning and add S & P  to taste.
Serve topped with a sprinkle of the parmesan/lemon zest topping. ( I sprinkled with coriander as well but didn't use the celery or corn kernels today.

are you sure you're not living in my house!? That is a typical cooking effort here. Except the 5 year old is almost as bad with the tanties. Thanks for the giggle. I loved the creative recipe & can definitely relate.

Ayla.....this was yummy  :-* thank you!

I used 2 sticks of celery (hand sliced), and left out the corn.
Used 1/4 tsp. dried chilli flakes.
I did not add the tasty cheese, but added in the full amount of the lemon zest/parmesan, for the final 2 minutes cooking.
I loved the lemon flavour through it!
Anti tuna eating hubby ate the lot!  That's something, as he considers anything with tuna as "pet food"  :P

I was amazed when reading the recipe that the wine went into the tmx!!!!! and not your mouth

Of course the recipe only calls for 75ml of wine.  So that leaves 675 ml, by my calculations!

Thanks Ayla for the recipe and Judydawn for the "translation".  Made this tonight and it was very tasty.

I don't like recipes that call for white wine as it takes from my bottle, much prefer that they ask for red wine or chicken stock at least!

CP, I have a small cask of Chardonnay in the fridge exclusively for cooking - no dish is going to get my good white wine, that's for me  ;D   I don't like Chardonnay to drink but it is fine for cooking.

I actually use verjuice when they ask for white wine, most of the time anyway.
May all dairy items in your fridge be of questionable vintage.

i buy cooking wine, over here sold in small glass or plastic bottles either red or white and keep it in a small spice drawer...
