Can we get some more sections please? This forum is exploding, and it's becoming harder to find things.
Some ideas for starters
Slices
Biscuits/Cookies
Icecream/Sorbet/Frozen Desserts
Main Dishes
Maybe we could get "child-boards" like under the festives board?
Beef
Poultry/Game
Risotto
Other thoughts?

It's a good idea but is it a huge job for the moderators to shift the existing recipes to their new headings?
-
dpends how many need moving lol
-
I don't know what's involved, but will it become bigger and bigger if left too long? I can't believe how fast the forum has grown just in my 5 months.
-
How about just start the new sections for any new posts, then gradually move the old posts over as required.
I'm in favour of a section on confections!
-
May as well start now - just need me to get organised enough and find the time to do some moves - thanks MM for doing the moves into condiments.

:-* :-* :-* Thank you MM! Wish I could help!

I'd like to see more sections, but I know it's a big job to move everything and then you're left with blank posts labelled "MOVED etc etc....."
-
I will sit here quietly and go with anything. If I can't find something someone always help me. We are getting very large I must admit-more recipes and more fun.
Being over here lots of changes are made by MM, Thermomixer and Brazen before I even get out of bed, let alone get on the forum. Thanks guys. :-* :-*

Perhaps after things are moved, that could be left for a while and then deleted. So the only place to find chilli sauce would then be under sauces.

Here Here....although again, I don't know if that's possible. Would certainly tidy things up.

I like most of the sections and find it pretty easy to locate things, especially with index's and the search facility. The one area that I would like to see changed down the track is the cakes, desserts etc. We must all be sweet tooths because we have posted SO many recipes here. Having sections for cakes/slices, desserts/puddings/icecreams, biscuits/cookies and confectionary would be great. :)

Maybe in the Recipe Reviews section, there could be a section for each book that is available, it would make it easier if trying to locate a particular review from a particular book, or at a glance you can see how many reviews there are from each book and gauge whether to purchase that particular book or not. :)
-
Great idea JulieO - would definitely help with purchasing decisions.

Great idea - Child threads for each book

Sounds Perfect!

This all sounds good and very organised but I must admit I never go through any of the index pages to find what I'm looking for - I just use the search. And BTW for anyone that is as slow as me you always have to go back to the 'Forum Thermomix' green folder (Home Page) to search the whole site for what your looking for or it only searches for your word in what ever folder (section) you have open at the time. ;)
-
Good thinking Julie.
-
sections on cakes, biccies, sweets, slices, ice creams would be very greatefull.
thanks,
Robyn

Easiest thing to do is to create your own cookbook/sections in your browser's Favourites and then drop the bookmarks of your favourite recipes into your own sections. Works for me ;D
-
From memory this stalled because there were some "official" mods happening to the forum. Have they happened? We're continuing to grow and grow and grow, and sections are becoming bigger and bigger.
-
nope, nothing's happened :-\
-
I don't mind being a mod and helping. I'm a mod on another forum that isnt' terribly busy, so I don't do much there.
-
megan, cathy meant mods as in the whole board was meant to be redesigned
-
After reading Cathy's comment that she didn't have buttermilk so substituted milk/vinegar when she was making brownies made me think.Maybe we could have a section where people could look to see what they use in their cupboard before they fled to the shops, if they didn't have a particular ingredient at hand.Or would this come under Tips and Hints?

Ah, moderations, not moderators!
-
I do agree that it would be good to divide the recipe review section into cookbooks.
That way we could just add to exsiting reviews when we make a recipe rather than starting a new thread. I think i have doubled up on recipes that already have been reviewed a couple of times.

There is a little section on this in the Budget Busters booklet which is quite handy. And there are other hints/tips floating around so it would be nice to compile them. From memory, MeganJane had one for egg substitution?

one for egg substitution?
I saw something on a website today that mentioned 150ml of milk per egg? and also using apple sauce and even banana...
-
I think MJ's was chia gel for the egg - not sure of the ratios though would have to try and find it ... hence the good idea of a separate section :D

Would it be possible to copy out this section onto the forum to get it started? How about for a title" Substitution- Whats' in your Cupboard ( Larder?)"
-
only problem is that when you have too many forums it can become really difficult to find things, especially when it's not immediately obvious where they might be. (not saying we shouldn't do it but that we need to be careful not to go too far)

It was Linseed Gel and here's some others:
2 tbsp cornstarch = 1 egg
2 tbsp arrowroot flour = 1 egg
2 tbsp potato starch = 1 egg
1 heaping tbsp soy powder + 2 tbsp water = 1 egg
1 tbsp soy milk powder + 1 tbsp cornstarch + 2 tbsp water = 1 egg.
1 banana = 1 egg in cakes.
1 tbsp milled flax seed and 3 tbsp water = 1 egg. Light, fluffy cakes!

Thanks MJ. You are a modern, walking CWA book.
