Good morning everyone.  Nice and sunny here but no warmth in it.  Frost over night and thick fog this morning.  5 deg. at the moment.
The  man who said it can't be done should not interupt the woman doing it.

Lovely rain. We had 54 mm until 9 this morning. It was cosy waking up during the night and listening to the rain on the roof. (We have a metal roof)

A cold and frosty good morning everyone.  A chilly 0 deg here.

Cookie, I love to hear the rain on the roof and know that it's nice and dry inside.

It was bitterly cold, I agree Trudy. Nice in the nursing home though, residents have no idea how cosy it is in there compared to outside. I did offer to take Mum outside so she could feel it for herself but it was a very fast response No!

I’ve been MIA these past few days. We had GS staying for the weekend. We had a great time but DH and I were tired last night when he went home.

We are having nice sunny days following the frost.
CC, just wait until GS is old enough to help you.
Judy, don’t blame your Mum for not wanting to go outside.
We have a friend coming to stay next week.  I have a feeling that she is not heating her house as it is too expensive.

We’ve had heavy rain overnight.  It was muddy underfoot walking Chance this morning. Chance retrieved a decaying dead squirrel today. It was grose 🤢 .

Good morning everyone.  Another frosty morning this morning.  Sunshine now and expecting 17 deg.
CC, we loved having the GC here when they were small, sadly most of them are all grown up now and going their own way.  One did call in yesterday to wish me a late happy birthday.
Chookie, it is so sad when you hear about people who can't afford to heat their house.  The cost of gas and electricity is outrageous these days.

I agree, it is very sad when people cant afford to heat or cool their homes. I get angry at the fixed charges. Our electricity fixed charge is going up to $1.03/day on 1st July. We have solar panels but we still have to pay this.
I'm also angry with ANZ bank.. They are going to start charging fees on some accounts and if we are over 60 we have to apply to have them taken off.

Good evening.  We were up early and out all day.  Bu****ed now.  We had to drop the car off to have serviced.  They give us a ‘loan’ car.  I asked for one that was easy to drive!!
Ral had an appointment with the Specialist.  He is pleased with the results of the new medicine.  If nothing adverse happens next week then we don’t have to see him for a month. May not have to have any more infusions at the Hospital.
Our power was off for most of the day, so it was good that we weren’t at home.
Cookie, we pay $1.30 a day, just to have the power to the house.  Last month our daily use was $15.00 a day.  Expensive but then we are not going for holidays or buying anything expensive, at the moment.
Our nice neighbours across the road, don’t turn their heater on until 4 pm.  It is freezing here in the mornings as we are having heavy frosts.

Nice to hear all the different stories in this thread. Good news for Ral, enjoy your visitor Chookie. Denise I’m sure we can all relate to the young grand children wearing us out, just put your feet up now and relax to recharge your batteries.

All this talk of electricity and costs reminds me that I can see my next battle coming up.

During renovations we have totally cut off the power to our first floor.  I contacted the electricity company about this as they sent me an 'estimated' bill for use for the first floor of over $350.00.  I explained that the power had been disconnected up there since the beginning of January.

It seems I have to pay a daily supply charge until we actually contact them to cut off the supply.  I conceded that I would go with that and they said they would cancel that initial invoice and look into the matter.  They then sent me a final invoice for $5'ish, whcih was fine with me.  The next week I got another final invoice, this time around the $350 mark which was due two days ago.  To be honest, I simply didn't have the energy to discuss this with them and just paid it.  Then yesterday I got another final bill ... this time a credit for c. $145.00!  Is it any wonder people get fed up with these big companies!  I guess I will just 'sit' on the credit until we get re-connected then see what happens next!
