Condiments and Sauces / Tartare sauce
« on: November 27, 2011, 03:50:42 am »
Just wondering if anyone has made the tartare sauce recipe from the EDC? Can they tell me what it's like OR does anyone have a successful recipe for it?

Thought we'd have fish for dinner tonight and hubby piped up and said "it would be good if we had some Tartare Sauce".

Me being me and wanting to make every use of my TMX as I can, I've got a bee in my bonnet and want to make it from scratch.

Any suggestions would be most welcome.  ;D

Chit Chat / What to do with egg yolks?
« on: January 25, 2011, 02:04:11 pm »
Of course for Australia day, I had to make Pavlova! It's a tradition with our friends and now an expectation.  :)

I don't want to waste the egg yolks. Can I use them for Torte Caprese or do I really need the egg whites as well.?

Any other suggestions for using up egg yolks would be greatly appreciated. I don't want them to go to waste.

Thanks in advance

Cakes / Marshmallow Jam Slice
« on: December 28, 2010, 05:11:34 am »
I can't take all the credit for this recipe but I'd like to1  ;) I got it from a magazine some time back but for the life of me, I can't remember which one, so I'm unable to credit the true owner.

Ingredients

3 Weet-Bix
70g (1/3 cup) caster sugar
80g (1 cup) desiccated coconut
140g (1 cup) plain flour
150g butter
Strawberry or Rasberry jam
Approx 375g marshmallows

1.Preheat oven to 180 C or 160 c fan. Prepare a slice tin with paking paper.
2.Put Weet-Bix into TMX and on  *: use turbo 2 - 3 times (or crush by hand if preferred), set aside.
3.Add butter and melt for 4 min on 50 C, speed 2
4.Add Weet-Bix, coconunt, caster sugar and flour to bowl. Mix for approx 30 secs on speed 5 to combine.
5.Put base mixture into prepared tin and press down firmly using the back of a spoon. Bake in oven for approx 20 mins or until lightly browned.
6.While the base is still warm, spread with jam. Arrange the marshmallows on top and put back in the oven for approx 5 minutes until just softened. The marshmallows will spread slightly.
7.Cool in the baking tray, then slice into squares to serve.

Chit Chat / Custard crisis!
« on: December 24, 2010, 11:42:17 pm »
Just went to the fridge this morning and to my dismay, the kids have used half of the 3ltr bottle of milk that was in the fridge since yesterday afternoon.

I have to make custard today and I'm doubtful there will be enough milk to get us through until tomorrow.

Has anyone made our custard recipe with powdered milk? I always keep some cow in the cupboard just in case but very rarely do I have to use it.

Thanks in advance!

Merry Christmas.

Chit Chat / Quick & easy recipes for holidays!
« on: December 04, 2010, 11:06:07 pm »
We've all been chatting about the Travelling with Thermomix book but the title refects different things for different people.

Many of us like to take our TMX away when we go on holidays/camping but we dont have room for the whole fridge and pantry in the car as well.

What sort of tasty, easy recipes does everyone make, that doesn't require a lot of ingredients that would be well suited to holiday style cooking?

Recipe Book Recipe Reviews / Date & Lime Cake
« on: November 08, 2010, 02:22:43 pm »
I had a look on here and there didn't seem to be any reviews on the Date & Lime Cake.

Well my DS6 & I made this last night.  I was a bit dubious at first, seemed a strange combination and the thought of putting in the entire lime was even more unusual.

Bugger me! It was absolutely spectacular.  ;D  I took some to work today and it was a hit there too!

Chit Chat / San Churro hot chocolate!
« on: November 04, 2010, 01:34:28 pm »
Holy cow! I bought my hubby some San Churro Aztec hot chocolate (the one with chilli & cinnamon) for his b'day.  We made it tonight in the TMX.

It is the most decadent warm drink!

Yummmmm!!!

Chit Chat / Energy Bar recipe?
« on: November 03, 2010, 01:36:20 pm »
Hi everyone,

My husband keeps asking me to make him some energy bars or something along those lines.  Basically something healthy to snack on instead of eating crap.

I've had a look as best I can.  I'm still not very savvy with the forum.  So far I haven't been able to find anything.  ???

Does anyone have any good recipes they could recommend.

TIA

Jodi

Chit Chat / Completed all my training!
« on: October 27, 2010, 11:48:53 pm »
Hi everyone,

I just wanted to tell you all that I am now a fully fledged demonstrator! Woohoo, licensed to demonstrate. Could be dangerous.

Now all I have to do is actually do a demo!  :D

So excited and so nervous all at the same time.

So much to do, I don't know where to start.

If you know anyone interested in a demo or actually purchasing a TM. Please let me know.  I'm in the northern suburbs of Perth, no too far from HO.

Thanks everyone for all your encouragement over the past few weeks.  You all give so much support, we need to keep up the good work for all the newbies coming on board.

Chit Chat / Rice Bran Oil?
« on: October 22, 2010, 04:20:19 pm »
Does anyone know much about Rice Bran Oil?
I noticed it is on special at Woollies next week for $12.99/4ltrs.  It says it' got a high smoke point, light flavour and no cholesterol. I'm wondering if it would be a suitable substitute for EVOO.
Thanks

Introduce Yourself / Thermomix Envy
« on: October 01, 2010, 04:50:49 pm »
Hi Everyone,

This is all very new to me.  I had my first Thermomix experience last weekend at my sister in laws.  It was love at first sight.  :-*

Ever since, I've been conjuring up ways of coming up with the money to buy my own. I don't like the idea of the long term payment plans as you end up paying so much more for it. I wont be beaten though. I'm speaking to a lady tomorrow about being a demonstrator!

Are there any demonstrators on the forum that can share any advice or tips?  I'm petrified at the thought of selling them even though they sell themselves.

A whole new world has opened up this week. My husband and children even love the TM. No convincing to be done there!  :)

Any advice is most welcome.
Thanks a million!
