Hi everyone, Last night, a dear friend came over to visit Ed and I and he brought a friend of his along. He is from Sydney and lives in Frankfurt and she is from Sydney and is on holidays here. Anyway, we were exchanging pleasantries and getting to know one another, and the topic of Thermomix came up, as I whipped a fabulous cake out of the oven. Well that was it. She and I talked about virtually nothing else for the rest of the evening. She owns TM31 and she was delighted to hear all about TM5. And most importantly, I told her all about all of you and how fabulous you are so we shall look forward to her joining us soon when she arrives back in Sydney. Xxxoooxxxooo Apologies if this is not an introduction, because it isn't but I don't know where else to put it. Sorry MM!!!

Hi everyone,
I had the most delightful chat with Tina at Thermomix South Africa. What a lovely woman. She was extremely keen to hear all about the TM5 that they will not be getting until next year, poor loves.
Anyway, I have ordered their new cookbook, odyssey something or rather and it is coming by post. It is about $50 equivalent plus postage. If you fancy the book, contact them, as they are so helpful. I will let you know when it arrives. Gee, haven't I become obsessed again???

Good morning all
I was googling around yesterday and found the information regarding finance for Thermomix. Sometimes it is 11% and after one year it is 19.9%. Here in Germany, we pay 1.9%. Quite some difference. Vorwerk own a bank (AKF) over here and run their own financing for people who require it. And personally, 1.9% is quite a negligible amount but 19.9% is exceptionally high. Do you ever get interest free periods for purchase?
I am not meaning to stir the pot (pardon the pun!) but I wonder why AKF cannot finance the product or open a division in Australia. I only say this because it is extremely unfortunate that some markets pay SO much more than others. I don't want to out people off but just to keep people informed. Please correct me if I am wrong. Be welcome to hear your thoughts.

Good morning all. Leesmac78 or Lee from Frankfurt, Germany here. I disappeared off the face of the earth about three years ago and must admit, and have only recently rediscovered this forum. Blame a ridiculous workload and studying to "the mix", if you pardon the pun! I have had Thermie for three years now and love it so, so much and encourage all of you who may be considering this purchase to DO IT!!!! I am also a former demonstrator (no time now) and I am particularly good at providing strategies on how to get your DH (or respective partner) to make the decision themselves to purchase a Thermomix, even if they have moaned and complained and stated out loud that it is a waste of money and too expensive. I am back with a vengeance as I am off to meet TM 5 tomorrow. I am just SO excited. It feels a bit like when I first bought my Pomeranians at the breeder. Tomorrow I can look. Wednesday, I can fill out the paper work and on Friday, I can buy! I am not sure though when I can bring TM 5 home though, all will be revealed tomorrow. My strategy on the upgrade was as follows (not for the faint hearted): - see the pretty new TM 5 on the website - watch the YouTube videos in bed and talk about it when DH is pretty much asleep - contact my demonstrator and arrange the purchase and coordinate "the plan" - arrange to attend the demo tomorrow night It can't be that easy, can it? I guess I should have TM 5 within 2 weeks. Just a bit worried that my recipe chips will all be in German so I will have to arrange to purchase some when I am in Melbourne next month. Fingers crossed for me everyone and I will keep you posted as to the progress. Happy Thermomixing! Lee

Hi Darlings, I made my first sale today. So funny. I was walking through the car park at school and a parent called me over. "I would like to buy a Thermomix, can you help me?" "Sure, have you seen one in action?" "Yes, can I have it before Christmas?" "Absolutely!" "Great, I'll stop buy tomorrow at your office and sign the form" "Lovely" And that is it. I think demos have whiskers on them after today's success. Only joking, but strange things really happen to really strange people! I might move my office into a tent in the car park, except that it is 1° outside and snow is coming very soon. Xxx

Hi everyone,
Coming up to the winter holidays here in Germany, I have been so busy lately and have not been visiting you all.
Just wanted to let you know that Ed and I (yes, both us) had our first Thermomix party tonight. It was delightful. All went is according to my crazy planning and I cooked and demonstrated far too much. Everyone (all English ladies thankfully) ate the food and oohed and ahhhed in all the gright places. Sadly, I did not receive an order tonight but I am positive that I will receive one in the near future. And if I don't, I had a lovely time showing my Thermodarling to everyone. Fortunately, this party was a delightful chance to meet some great news people who are just like us, permanent expats living in Frankfurt. So I might even make some new friends instead, which is even better.
So, if you do own a Thermomix and fancy a little bit of an excuse to cook with it even more than you do already, become a demonstrator, it's loads of fun!

Hi all, Ed and I went to our group meeting last night. What fun. It was honestly 0° and freezing but we went! My group leader hosted a delightful evening with about 10 of us attending. We received our new diaries for the year and chatted jabout dates to come, then she went through the flip chart and did is demo for us. So wonderful and so fun. We all cooked together and ate together and had a super time. We drank wine and laughed a lot and rolled out of there quite late, for a Monday night! According to Vorwerk here in Germany, the tea towel drying is completely safe to do in a demo. They laughed at me when I said that in Australia demonstrators were not allowed to do it because of the warranty problems. Evidently here there is no problem to do this and in fact the encourage it. The only other wondering amongst us all was could we buy a flip chart in Australia that is In English? Myself and another darling lady would love these for when we do demos to English speaking people. Also the recipe cards you use for a demo, could they too be purchased? Not every English person wants so much cabbage in their demo, which is clearly designed for their German market... Also, is there enormous pressure to sell a particular quota each month in Australia? For example, here we have two ways of buying Thermie. Either you earn it in demos, in which there is some pressure to sell or you do what I did and buy it upfront. Then, there is almost no pressure to sell ever. So long as you look enthusiastic and try (like me) that is all they ask. I suppose I had better sell something someday otherwise there is little point to attending the group meetings at all. Luckily, my demo has been rescheduled for Dec 1st, which gives me more time to understand the stupid forms that I need in case someone wants to finance the machine, as we don't accept credit cards! The forms as so long and all in German and require me to phone the bank at some ridiculous hour through the night, with the customer present, to let them know whether they were approved or declined. Stressful!!!!! Hope you are all well, Xxx

Hi Everyone, Once again, this Forum has proved its worth in gold over and over again. I popped a little message on the other day asking for a little help and a kind Angel helped me out more than I can imagine. The way each and everyone interacts together warms the cockles of my heart and I am truly blessed to be acquainted with you all. Having said this, I was having a little think and a little dream. I keep reading about this plan for a get together in Perth and feel all jealous that I cannot be there. So here is my idea. Wouldn't it be just wonderful to have a virtual Thermomix party. Imagine we get as many of us together as we can in each Australian capital city, one person hosts and some how we video conference or Skype in so that we are all together. How wonderful would it be to all be together? I am great with ideas but I am not always good at organizing something as tricky as video conferencing. Maybe someone knows someone? Is there some "free" way that we could do this? Nothing major but just a kind of afternoon tea, where we could all be "together" at one time. Anyone like my idea? xxx

Last week, I was chatting to the science teacher and she was wondering how to demonstrate live yeast in her class. "Too easy. Let's make bread!" I suggested. "but isn't bread so difficult to make? I've never made bread before", she answered. "I have this wonderful machine called Thermomix and it would be no problem to cook with you in class", I replied, excitedly. So with all the joy in the world, I pack Thermie into his traveling bag and off we go to school to bake bread. Not only did we prove how yeast reacted, I've practically sold a Thermomix to the science teacher. She is discussing with her husband tonight and just wait for the sale... Too easy! Xxx

Hi Loves, If I want to order In the Mix, do I order directly from Australia's head office or do I need to buy it through a demonstrator? I fancy buying it for Thermie for Christmas. I will buy myself the Varoma one here in Germany but as I am only allowed to purchase one per month for myself and Ed, I thought I would buy one for Thermie too! He works hard and should be rewarded for his efforts! xxx

Picture this. Exhausted after a heavy Saturday of Thermomixing in German. I sit down, turn on the television and watch Strictly Come Dancing, or Dancing with the Stars for my Australian readers. I have Teeny and Josie in the sofa and we are getting right into it, as you do. All of a sudden I see blue and red flashing lights through my window. I peek outside and one, then two, then three, then four fire engines arrive out the front of my house and down the street. And then 3 ambulances and two police cars. All sirens and bells and lights. I blinked twice, as I had just finished off the bottle of white that Ed had started the night before he left for Washington. Of a sudden, the ladder was extending to the roof of my house and men climbed up, carrying large hoses. I throw the dogs into the bathroom and in my Big W pajamas, I dash downstairs to see what all the fuss is about outside. Turns out the our neighbour's bathroom heating is on fire and from what I understood, no one was sure whether it was gas or electric and an explosion was imminent. I dash back up the stairs and grab the dogs and a coat and a pair of slippers (Thermie had to stay behind, talk about Sophie's Choice) and dash back down the stairs to wait in 2° temperatures and wait. Two or so hours passed, the fire was out, I was frozen from the cold and I walked back into my house which survived completely unscathed, unlike my neighbour's bathroom. I collapsed onto the sofa, cuddled the dogs, waved at Thermie and had a nice cup of tea to recover from the shock. All of that PLUS a few hours demonstrating Thermimix to the good people of Germany in German. Boy was I glad to go back to work today! Xxx

Today darling Ed went to Washington DC for a conference. I took him to the airport early and got ready for my short morning activity. My mornings activity was to go to a regional home show here in my state, Hessen. The reason for this visit was to watch my group leader do a German cooking presentation. Lovely. I was a little bit excited as anything to do with Themomix gets my heart racing ever so slightly and a warm feeling in my tummy. I arrive at the show just a few moments before the show commenced and wandered around the people selling new stairs, windows, heating, knives and window cleaners that we can all live without. I found Petra, my group leader and the Thermomix stand. Before I stumbled out a hello I was in a bright pink apron handing out pamphlets and preparing the demonstration. One minute later the demonstration was on. There were 12 people, who had never used a Thermomix before standing before me and a few other demonstrators and we had to teach, in German, these newbies how to make Tuna dip, Zuccini cream soup, gnocchi, steamed fish and potatoes and zablione. I received these recipes by email but hadn't read them. And then I was supposed to guide these newbies through the wonders of Thermomix in German in recipes that I had never cooked and could barely read. Ahhhhhhhhh! Talk about a Thermochallenge! We cooked and laughed. And then we served this all up at an ajacent table where we dined together - delightful. After that was clean up and then I was handing out brochures talking to people in my appalling German all about the benefits of owning a Thermomix. When the questions got too curly for me, I grabbed another demonstrator to complete the conversation. Then I half started another, got rescued and so the day continued. I planned a quick hello and goodbye and a visit to the supermarket. But four hours later I was still there. I was dreaming of being at a home show in Australia or even London, where I could sell a Thermomix to literally anyone. But no, I was selling something I hardly knew any of the vocab for in a language I can barely speak. People seemed impressed enough. I didn't make any arty bookings because being one on one with any of these people scared the life out of me and I happily referred their business to others. I mean I only have to sell five to get my 2nd machine. What a day. I am sitting quietly at home with a glass of wine breathing a sigh of relief that I survived the day. My group leader asked me if I could come again tomorrow. I think not. I am proud of my efforts today and don't want to push my luck. Xxx
