Title: Low Carb - Chicken Drummettes
Post by: VieveMS on December 20, 2012, 10:16:14 pm
Had these for dinner last night although instead of drummettes I jointed and marinated a whole chicken.

The marinade is quick and easy to make up and was really tasty on the chicken.  As my chicken pieces were larger, I needed to cook the chicken for longer.  I might even try cooking the chicken on the BBQ next time.

Sorry, no photo  :(

I was going to marinate 2 kg small chicken drumsticks and freeze until needed. I thought I had tamari but what I have is called Tamarind concentrate - can anyone tell me if this is the same thing?

Hi JD - no - very different.  Tamari is a Japanese soy sauce;  the tamarind concentrate is made from the pods of the tamarind tree native to Africa - and used as a souring agent used in Indian curries, etc.

Thanks for the explanation GF, I'll use ordinary soy sauce instead then.  Goodness knows what it would have tasted like if I'd used the tamarind concentrate  :-))   :-* :-*
