Tips/Hints:
This is a modification of the recipe on p 39 of the TM Everyday cooking book.
My lovely TM consultant actually modified all the recipes at my demo so I could eat them - this is one she did and I have further modified.

Special Diets / Thermomix Mayonaiise - adapted to be Failsafe

Failsafe Mayonnaise

Ingredients:
Clove garlic
1 Egg room temp and separated
salt
2 t hot water
1 t citric acid
150 ml canola oil
100 ml pear juice

Preparation:

Peel garlic: I used the tip of putting clove in on reverse, speed 4 to peel - worked a treat
My egg wasn't room temperature so I separated it and put the egg yolk, chopped garlic, salt, citric acid and water in TM bowl and mixed on speed 4 at temp of 37 for 2 minutes.

With blades rotating on speed 4 I slowly added the oil and pear juice. I didn't read the book correctly - I should have left the MC ON and this would have helped with consistent speed of adding. Did this over 4-6 mins.

Then added egg white and mixed for 10 seconds.

Photos:

Not sure how to add here but there is one at my blog: http://failsafethermomix.blogspot.com/2009/05/failsafe-mayonnaise.html

Tips/Hints:
Read recipe properly! Leave MC ON when adding liquids.

Cakes / Thermomix Choc Chip Cookies
« on: May 10, 2009, 05:24:51 am »
I made these using the recipe in the Everyday book and they came out beautifully

Very easy to make.

They rose quite a lot and have a "puffy" appearance.

I have a photo on my blog (not sure how to post photos here) http://failsafethermomix.blogspot.com/2009/05/thermomix-choc-chip-cookies-not.html

Babies and Kids / Re: Playdough

I found that 20g oil was too much and next time I'll try 15g.

I have a pic up at my blog: http://failsafethermomix.blogspot.com/2009/05/play-dough.html - it is of two batches.

Thank you so much for this recipe.

I modified it to make it failsafe and have posted it including lots of pics at my blog: http://failsafethermomix.blogspot.com/2009/05/failsafe-varoma-chicken-dumplings.html

My ingredients were:

Dumpling Dough - I needed lots of extra cold water - probably 60 mls

Chicken filling - 1 half chicken breast roughly chopped
3 spring onions, roughly chopped
1 ripe pear, peeled
1/6th purple cabbage, chopped roughly
1 celery stalk
1 T soy sauce

Comments. This meal was a pain to make! I was thinking I woudn't make it again but everyone loved it so much that I will have to - but its definitely one to make when hubby is around to watch the kids.

The dumpling was a pain - I had to cut out the circles, then roll them again before putting mix on. Next time I might try just dividing dough into balls and then flattening balls - it made no difference if dumplings were perfect circles - in fact ovals were easier.

The other thing is I'm thinking of trying with rice papers?

Thank you for this recipe. I modified it to make it failsafe and it was beautiful.
The modified ingredients are:
MARINADE
2 cloves garlic
60ml japanese soy sauce
2 tbs golden syrup
2 tsp sesame seeds
1 tsp canola oil.

1.2 kgs chicken wings

I've done a write-up on my blog - unfortunately no pics this time though: http://failsafethermomix.blogspot.com/2009/05/failsafe-golden-soy-chicken-wings.html

When I had tossed the chicken in the marinade I put them straight in the freezer - just defrosted them in the microwave before cooking per instructions.

Introduce Yourself / Re: Hi There

Oh wow - I am so happy to read your post - we are failsafe and dairy-free too!

I have created a blog documenting my recipe modifications to use the Thermomix for failsafe cooking. We've only had our TM for a week and a half so there are lots of recipes still to try.

I'd love to hear your ideas too.

Hi!

I am so glad to realise my membership has been approved - I have tried several recipes from this forum and now I can post my experiences with them.

We purchased our TM a couple of weeks ago and are still using it several times each day. Our youngest child has multiple food intolerances: dairy, salycilates, preservative 282 and 380 that we know about. We eat mostly failsafe meals at home from the RPA's friendly food cook book. Though I have modified some recipes on here and from the TM every day cook book to make them failsafe and dairy-free.

Am looking forward to being able to post here. This site is a fantastic resource!

Rae

PS if there are any other failsafers out there I would especially love to hear your recipes.
