I'm never buying another easiyo sachet again...
« on: January 15, 2013, 09:45:42 am »
I bought some yogurt culture from green living Australia, and followed this recipe http://www.greenlivingaustralia.com.au/yoghurt.html#thick_yoghurt (of course doing the milk in the tmx). It is super thick and delicious. The kids love it (even without any sugar). It works out so much cheaper. I would often make yoghurt from the last batch, but don't always make it continually, so wouldn't have any yoghurt to use as a starter, hence the easiyo sachets. I can't believe the tiny amount of the culture that is needed!

I have some coconut yogurt culturing at the moment for DH (who is dairy free), following the recipe on that website. We'll see if it turs out tomorrow!

Well, it is still quite runny. Am going to add more pectin and maybe some arrowroot and see if it improves. It tastes nice though - can use to make sorbet/icecream if it doesn't work as yogurt. Next time I will try canned coconut milk. I want it out of the thermos though as I want to make some more yogurt for the kids!
