Condensed Milk - Dairy Free Substitute???
« on: February 28, 2011, 09:43:44 am »
Good evening all,

Just wondering if anyone here who is up with dairy free substitutes, if you have an alternative for condensed milk.  Mainly for truffles/rum balls.

Hope you're all very well!

Hi ILB, I've looked this up for you and there are 3 condensed milk dairy free substitutes here.  Have a look and see if you think one would work for your truffles.  http://www.godairyfree.org/Dairy-Substitutes/Milk-Subs-Sweetened-Condensed/Sweetened-Condensed-Milk-Recipes.html

Thanks JD  :-*

I ended up googling it and found a few others as well. I might try to have a go over the weekend.  :)

Came across a dairy free version of condensed milk the other day.  Check out the video here - time consuming but if it means you can eat more treats then it is probably worth the effort.  This site is sometimes a little slow loading.

Thanks for the link, Judy, that recipe looks interesting.  Did anyone catch what the additional ingredient was which she said she was going to add at the end?

That was the vanilla essence Marina but it's optional.  She didn't say she added it but it's listed in the ingredients list and mentioned in writing elsewhere there too.

Thanks Judy, I did wonder, but I am very literal in my thinking so expected it to be a little more obvious.
