I get liquid smoke at Vic Market and find that you have to be very careful with it as it is very strong.
Marina, how true. I add 3 drops to a large SC of soup. Where do you buy it at the market?
I'll try to remember to check tomorrow and let you know.

I noticed my little Italian green grocer has liquid smoke.

Yesterday I had a delivery  of an order of organic food from Melbourne. Hagensorganics.com. , if anyone is interested.  Expensive but both meat and veggies of exceptional quality. Very generous lot of winter , in season veggies and beautifully packaged. I feel very lucky that we can have home delivered such good stuff.

That is fantastic Chookie. When it is good quality it is worth it. This afternoon we went for a drive up to the Swan Valley. Third time this week. It’s not that far really. It was cold but lovely and sunny. We called into the House of Honey. https://www.thehouseofhoney.com.au/

We tasted some honey and ended up buying some Chai honey, Strawberry honey, Vanilla honey as well as some Parrot Bush honey, which was the purpose of the drive.

DH gave me a gorgeous book yesterday, "In praise of veg" by Alice Zaslavsky.  It is fantastic - all the veges are listed by colour, which is different but easy to find things if you know their colour, if you only know their name you are saved by the index at the back, but seeing as I am pretty familiar with most of the usual veges I just find the appropriate coloured pages and there I go.  Loads of interesting information as well, much of which I did not know.  Many of the recipes sound delicious and I look forward to lots of experiments in my future!

Marina, that book does sound interesting.
KAtie, I bought 2 value packs. One was the kids pack and the other was $120 but can’t remember what it was called as the have 3 packages. I took photos of the combines lot.

There is actually more than appears in photo as there are 2 lots of several items but I stacked them on top of each other. The sausages looked strange but we had one each last night and they were delicious. Also the hamburgers we shared with the electrician on Saturday and again excellent.

It looks lovely and fresh Chookie.
Marina I have made a couple of things from that book. One was the vegetable slice and it was delicious. The other was a potato  thing but it didn't fall apart when it was cooked. I'm seriously thinking of buying it.

It’s with the zucchini and is actually called Summer Slice-sorry.
I downloaded the ebook of it again so I can have a extra good look at it before buying it. (From the library)

I’m about to replace my Miele ovens.with newer Miele models.   What a headache. I fancy a combi steam oven, a microwave with oven features and a warming drawer. Any help would be appreciated.  DIL has been very helpful.  She has 2 identical steam ovens which she loves.  I need to work with the space that I have.  Even so will have to remove a drawer. Thanks

I love my Miele steam oven Chookie. It's a few years old now. The only thing I don't enjoy about it is having to descale the steam function very occasionally.
