I had my first TMX disaster today.  :o
I made a soup from a kiwi restaurant cookbook and tried to convert it.
It was disgusting and after 2 hours of trying to rescue it I gave up.
DH loves soup and just came in and tasted it and for the second time in our 38 years he screwed up his face and said "bin it"  :(

Oh no MF :'( Do you know what went wrong?

Oooh, sesame seed slice. Yum.

It tastes like a cake version of sesame snaps :D :D :D Will post a photo soon, is really yummy. Not too sweet and no butter ;D

I love sesame snaps... looking forward to the recipe. Sesame seeds are a good source of minerals (copper, magnesium, zinc, calcium) amongst other things. I keep trying to find ways to get the kids to eat them, but haven't had luck so far.

I'm sure they'll love these PT ;)

Here is my sesame seed slice and the florentines I made today :)

Love your rolls Uni, they are just perfect.  I haven't made rolls for a while - don't know why.  Food just doesn't interest me at the moment I guess, roll on winter.

I did a bit in the kitchen today. For lunch made TAT's Chicken Katsu and served it with a baked jacket potato and cabbage & carrot stir fry (no photo, the battery was flat and it looked so darn good too  ;D).  Made lemon tea and lemon/carrot marmalade to use up a few of the many lemons I still have.

There was a lot of whole spices that had to be toasted and I don't think I toasted them long enough and don't think I ground them for long enough as it was very grainy. Also the recipe had 3 tablespoons of sherry vinegar which was overpowering and a round pat of palm sugar which made it very sweet. Tried my best to rescue it but it really was inedible. To make matters worse DH was going out to the cricket and not coming home for dinner so I was just going to have a bowl of soup and freeze the rest. DH gave his ticket to DS so arrived home early to surprise me which is when he tasted my soup  :o So now we are having a glass of wine each and no dinner.
Made smoked salmon fish cakes but put them all in the freezer.
Maybe I will use my Fritatta machine to make pizza with pita bread bases as I have pita breads in the pantry.  ;D

Pitta pizzas sound good MF, can't just have red wine for dinner ;D
Shame about the soup. Typical of DH to come home early :-))

Couldn't believe it when he walked in Amy :(

My wine is white but no I won't just have wine for dinner.

DH just said we could have Indian take out from the Indian restaurant at the marina behind our place.  ;D
I won't say no !!!

I turned the last two kilos of apricots into jam today.i am officially out of jars and sugar - I've used over 5 kg of sugar and I can't even count the number of jars of jam I now have made!
I had extra kids and a friend over for lunch and we polished off all the bread and rolls that I had, so I baked another loaf of no fuss bread. It's the first time I've used bread improver and the loaf rose so high in the oven that it hit the top of the oven!
I also turned a tub of dessert yoghurt and some very ripe peaches into frozen peach yoghurt with the help of my new icecream maker.
Dinner tonight was leftover burgers and salad from last night. No cooking planned for tomorrow as it will be extremely  hot, and I'm working.

What are you going to do with all the jam ES?
Sounds like you are enjoying your icecream maker :)

Some of the jam is for my parents as the apricots come from their tree. The rest of the apricot and strawberry jam will be used on pancakes on Sunday mornings at our neighbour's house. They used to have an apricot tree, but they had to remove it two years ago, and we were almost out of the last of the jam made with fruit from their tree.

I got back to doing a little cooking today. I made applesauce, peanut butter, chewy oat biscuits and bread rolls.
