Lovely gifts everyone, I've enjoyed looking at all the gifts as they have been opened.  Thanks again Cookie for taking this on, it has been a lot of fun.

I've enjoyed seeing all the pressies as they've been opened. SS's have done very well this year and have come up with some very interesting and thoughtful gifts. Thank you cookie for organising again x

Dear all, huge thanks especially to Cookie for organising, and to my super SS for their wonderful hand made present...  ;) A tall wooden pepper grinder, it is in use aready and we love it.

I opened it on Christmas Day and have emailed the photo to Cookie tonight asking for help to post as I am unable to upload the pic after several attempts.

It is such fun, the anticipation and the choosing and even the posting in the mail and on here. I've loved reading the thread.
Thank you all and very Happy New Year all my for friends old and new.
We are doing ok living with DH's cancer in 3 m chunks, next scan is March. I don't cook as much, but still rush here for recipes, the young have left home and we seem as busy as ever.

Good to see you here, DJ and to hear how things are going.

It has been good fun once again to do SS ... I already have bought one of my SS presents should we do this again next year - how's that for organised!  Actually it was totally unintentional, I was browsing through my favourite kitchen porn shop and saw something that I loved and immediately snapped it up, couldn't resist it.

Lucky you DJ, you can join the privileged club of Peppermill owners of whom I am a proud member. We use ours daily, it's the best Peppermill we have owned and particularly special because it makes us think of the wonderful forum secret Santa.  It's lively to hear from you and that your DH is getting on ok. Happy New Year.

I picked up my pepper ill by the top bit yesterday and dropped it. Peppercorns went everywhere. All I could do was laugh. Fortunately there is no damage to the peppermill at all.

Ha ha, I did that in the early days cookie and it dropped into a sinkful of water.  I soon learnt not to do that again. I love my S & P grinders and they bring happy memories of a very special person.

I've had a few peppermills over the years and it is the best I've ever had. Thanks to SS. We will have to spread this person round so that they become a token of forumthermomix.  ;D :D

I have had many pepper mills and salt grinders over the years too and up here it is just about impossible to have a salt grinder that lasts and is efficient due to the humidity. I use Himalyan Pink rock salt and sometimes the el cheapo plastic supermarket ones work best in the summer. It is a real problem in restaurants here and generally they give up and just have  salt in a pot which is disgusting with everyone's fingers in it!

They should put a salt spoon in the pot. I would forgo the salt. Remember the old days when pubs had bowls of peanuts on the table. The memory of that makes me nauseated.
