Cakes / Re: Weetbix Slice
« on: September 15, 2012, 11:05:12 am »
Miss 9 woke up this morning and said she wanted to make a weetbix slice.
I said "go to mr google and search for a recipe"
She found yours Amanda :)
And off she went and made it herself........

Holy Moly this is so good!!!
There is only a little bit left.....Miss 9 keeps saying "stop eating it.  It's not finished, I still have to put the icing on"
It looks like she will be making this again tomorrow - hopefully with icing :-))

Thank you Amanda for an easy delicious slice.

I did get a message in my inbox that had 1880 and that's it.
This is torture...... :'(
Has everyone received their ebook?
What am I doing wrong or where do I look for it?

Just had a look, it seems nice, could you use mince instead of beef as you are turboing anyway? Just wondered as I have mince.

Thanks

H :)

Halex I used mince because that's what I had.

Glad to read about your family's experience, Rara.  I have only made this recipe once but it was a while ago and don't recall changing anything myself.  We enjoyed it.

Hi Cecilia
I don't think the recipe needs changing either.
Most of it was because "that's all I had" :)
I like to cook my onions until soft even pre thermomix - that's just personal preference

Made this tonight for my husband and kids.
It was a huge hit!
Served with rice and salad.

The changes I made:
- used mince
- fried the onions and garlic for the meatballs for 3 min, varoma temp, speed 2
- used dried herbs (because that's all I had) and forgot to put in the mint
- used pankro breadcrumbs (that's all I had)

for the sauce
- fried onions and garlic for 3 min, varoma temp, speed 2
- cooked the wine for 2 min, varoma temp, speed 2
- used dried herbs
- blitzed the chunky tomatoes (only because Ellie doesn't like the chunk)
- did not add sugar
- cooked the sauce on speed 2 not on reverse.

It made heaps.

My family rated this 5/5
I (the vego) rated this 5/5 for simplicity.
Will definitely make this again.

Chit Chat / Re: Melbourne restaurant recommendation

Where is Hellenic Republic Wonder? I am sure I have heard of it?
Is it George's restaurant?

We went to Melbourne a in July and went to Hellenic Republic.
Yes it is George's restaurant - Fabulous food!!
Few other favourites:
The Merchant - Guy Rossi italian restaurant
Rare - this is a steak house (I'm vego and the menu catered for me  :))
Anywhere on Lygon Street - make sure you visit Brunetti's for cake and coffee
De Graves espresso bar - best coffee in Australia!
For a quick lunches the soup kitchen in DeGraves lane.  Opposite the soup kitchen is a fantastic sandwich/roll shop prices are really cheap!
Went to St Kilda for breakfast - can't remember the name - it was soooo good!

Where ever you go though it is much cheaper than the rip off prices here in Perth!

Enjoy your holiday.

Today I spent the day in a pastry kitchen....watching.
I was there to see if they could use a thermomix in their kitchen.
It was a great experience and am going back next week!

Today I made pita bread for the first time. Puffed up well, so waiting to cool to open pocket. Very excited that they worked. The recipe I made made 8, great for kids lunches.

Desserts / Re: Rara's Cherry Bites
« on: September 01, 2012, 10:05:57 am »
I am half way through making these. After 3 Hours the mixture is not hard. Maybe the rum soaked cherries have something to do with this.

Do you use cooking choc or ordinary choc to coat the balls?.

Try adding more coconut?

I use good quality chocolate like Judy and Amy

Let us know how they turn out

IF you had a spare $2000 what would you buy for yourself. :)

what would you really like to buy with the money..
Just curious..

I am saving up at the moment.

Ooh Obbie right now the way I am feeling I would love to get some of my fat sucked out around my tummy and bum  :-))
Or maybe a contraption that holds my jaw shut together when I see crap food and when my tummy is full  :-))

But in the real world I would use that money for our backyard renos.

Holy Cow Amy!!!
Well done.
Best of luck with the bake sale.
