Thanks for this reminder Maddy.  I have just bought a Pyrex dish to fit into the Varoma,  so will be extra careful.   I hate cleaning up broken glass.

Russell,  I'd like to nominate Isi's Light Coffee Cream "Quick Dessert".  for the dessert section.

Russell,  congratulations.  You have done an amazing job and I now know what you intended.  I take back the doubts that I had that you would wreck the Forum.

Tips and Tricks / Re: Bread not working out
« on: April 19, 2010, 01:14:37 pm »
Depome,  the one thing that I have learned about bread making is , each to his own method.   Do what produces the best loaf for you.   I love to experiment,  and I do have a lot of failures .  The chooks eat very well!!! , and I have a freezer full of bread crumbs.   Today I cooked sour dough with oats.  It is a lovely loaf so I took a photo and will post it tomorrow on my Blog.   It is getting colder here but we haven't lit the wood fire yet so the second rise took 4 hours,  instead of 1 1/2. to double.  keep experimenting and have fun ;D

Glad you like them JD.   I usually chop the nuts by hand for a better texture.  DH likes his a bit soft and chewy,  I like mine crunchy.   So I cook mine a bit more.

Meganjane I think it might be my Sour dough recipe that you want.   It is called No knead, sour dough oat bread.   I posted it last December under Bread.     You need a starter and it makes a nice size loaf.   I took a photo today and will post it on my Blog tomorrow.

Meaganjane,  you are absolutely right,  can't wait until asparagus is in season again,  have a lot of peppery land cress, (like water cress) at the moment.   Might give it a go.  Thanks for that.

Being able to spend a day cooking,  with the TMX,  anything that takes my fancy ;D  Coming in from the garden with a basketful of home grown produce,  and eggs of course.

Ceejay,  you have inspired me to get the starter out of the fridge and make a loaf.   I'm making the sour dough with rolled oats.   You might like to try it.  I posted the recipe ages ago.  The poor starter hasn't been fed for over 2 weeks :-)) :-)) :-))
