You've always said you are creative with storage Hally.  ;D I would like one for the mincer and pasta making attachments _ too bad I'm into minimalism  :-))

its best to keep it on the bench as its too heavy to be lugging in and out of cupboards. I got the Artisan.

I'm with CP on this one.  Mine's on the bench too.. way too heavy for me to be lifting on and out of cupboards!! It's next to the TMX :)  I have the Artisan. After the TMX had been around a while the KA was referred to as "Mum's Museum Piece"....but I do use it and, as others have said, does a better job with some things than the TMX..

I have the raspberry ice (hot pink) one. It is an artisan one but maybe the platinum range? I think platinum might just refer to a selection of colours.

I thought the only difference was the bowl they came with - Artisan come with SS and Plat come with glass (and possibly the scraper with half rubber?) I didn't compare motors because I'm not interested in that. Perhaps the colours are special to each range, but there are just so many to choose from thats the hardest part.

My husband bought me a Kenwood (wanted a KA or assistant) for egg whites and cakes as I don't live TMX cakes for sponges etc and it is a complete waste of money. Honestly, if it doesn't happen in the TMX , it doesn't happen. But I am using it to feed a family of 5 good nourishing food, not make fabulous food.

I use the kenwood for my Christmas pavs and that is it. Would love to get rid of it and just get a hand-held or sunbeam egg whisker but b/c it was a pressie I can't.

So yes - I wouldn't get one as I don't see the advantage while having a TMX.

Zebraa, I sort of agree with you which is why I dont have one. Mincing in the TM is OK, but the KA is probably better.

I really dont have any bench space, I could re-arrange. Still thinking.

Mine sits on the bench and even though I don't use it a lot there are things I think it gives a much better result than the TMX

Why don't you try an electric hand mixer first ?
A cheaper option and it might be enough.
I have one of those too. Easy to store.
Good luck deciding .

Hally,  think of where you will put it.  They are too heavy to keep shifting in and out of cupboards.  Unless you bake a lot of cakes and meringues you don't need it.  Yes the mincer and sausage attachment are nice,  but I use the mincer about once a year and the sausage attachment about every 4 years.   Like Cookie,  I use my small hand held beater more often if need be.  I have 2 Kenwoods,  one commercial and one domestic.  The commercial one is in a box in the shed,  the other is on the bench in the laundry,  where it can be used.
Good luck in trying to decide.

No I dont make too many cakes as I would eat them ;) happy with the cakes I do in my TM

Meringue I dont do often & yes I have a little handheld mixer whuch was used over a year ago & I am not even sure where it is.

So really I do not need one at all.

Now another TM ............

THANK YOU EVERYONE :-*

What were thinking of using it for Hally?
I guess you need to weigh up if its worth the real estate on your bench....like Chookie, I reach for the hand beater over the mixer.
I've mentioned before that I don't love mine, and I've had it for many years...if it broke tomorrow I wouldn't replace it.

With regards to mincing, it would be ok for small batches, but long & tedious if you were planning big batches.....I would suggest getting your butcher to mince for you when you get your beef done....their commercial mincers do it in no time.  We get 2 big tubs of mince when the butcher comes, and it takes only minutes.

.........EAT CAKE!

Thanks Maddy, now if the queen of cakes doesnt use hers I have no chance, lol.

Yes real estate on my bench was a big issue. ;D I have a back bench which has the Delonghi coffee machine, spice rack, microwave, TM, so no room. My island I like to keep empty.
