« on: September 15, 2013, 10:52:36 am »
I'm just frying up the chickpea patties and based on how many I am eating as I am cooking them - they are YUM. They are really tasty - I would highly recommended them 5/5.

Chit Chat / Freezer - Christmas
« on: November 21, 2012, 12:43:26 pm »
Hi We are going to Bali mid December til Christmas Eve (get home around 9pm Christmas Eve) which we are all looking forward to. On Christmas afternoon/evening we are having all my husbands extended family here for dinner - which will be lovely and Im looking forward to. Everyones bringing things to contribute. Apart from providing the venue Im also looking at a dessert or 2 and some nibblies. As we will be away Im looking at things I can make before we leave and freeze.
My thoughts so far are

Swedish icecream cheescake
Jonros fudge - cookies and cream and the salted version
The ususal chips and nuts

Thats about it though so far  :)  I dont need to provide alot but would like a variety of a few things if possible.

Anyone got any other ideas??? Thanks

« on: July 02, 2012, 10:04:49 am »
Ok so I love duck but have only ever had it cooked by someone else.  In a moment of madness I brought one and it has been sitting in the freezer and I have no idea how to cook it.  I know there are a 1000 recipes that I can look up but just wondering if anyone has a tried and true recipe the could pass on. I think you have a duck waiting to be used as well Gert - have you cooked it yet?? any advice will be happily received. Thanks

Chit Chat / Convection Microwave
« on: March 11, 2012, 10:56:05 am »
Hi My 25yr+ microwave I think may finally be coming to its end - though I am yet to convince my husband!  I would love a second oven in my kitchen and thought that buying a convection microwave would be a much cheaper option that putting a second oven in :)  I am wondering if anyone out there has one, can comment on what they think of it and what type they have.  I was in a store yesterday and they were talking about the solardom. When I look this up it has some mixed reviews.  Any thoughts or advice would be much appreciated.
Thanks

Chit Chat / Freezer Ideas
« on: August 24, 2011, 12:46:37 am »
Hi Everyone - I am wondering if you might be able to help with some freezer ideas. I would love to be able to on those nights where there has been a busy day or I am just feeling too lazy to be able to pull something out of the freezer for dinner. I do the obvious ones of Lasagna, spag bol and soup but wondering if anyone out there may have some other ideas. Any thoughts would be much appreciated.  Thanks Sharyn

Recipe Requests / Mulled Wine
« on: May 27, 2011, 11:52:16 am »
I am just wondering if anyone has a recipe for Mulled wine done in the TMX. I have had a look on the site but haven't been able to find one though there are references to one in the English TMX book.  My husband occasionally makes it for his cold sailing evenings and I think if I am ever to get him to use the TMX this is my one opportunity to do so! Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

Bread / Bread Advice Please
« on: May 14, 2011, 09:56:31 am »
I would really appreciate any advice please.  I have made a few loaves now and while they come out of the oven lovely and crusty within 5 or 10 mins the crust has become quite soft - is this normal or am I doing something wrong (I have never made bread prior to the tmx!). I have also, in the last few loaves, begun to add bread improver - is it ok to put this into all types of loaves? My last question - I have through reading a few forums noticed that after the first rise when shaping the loaf it seems that the dough is folded over and under if that makes sense - should I be doing this instead of just shaping the loaf.  Sorry for all the questions but as I said I have never made bread before!

Questions? Technical Issues? The Survival Guide / Sterilizing Jars
« on: May 04, 2011, 02:29:36 am »
Hi I am just wondering if I could have some advice please about sterilizing jars and bottles.  I realise that there are many different ways to do this but is there some ways more effective or easier than others? My sister and I tried Jam on the weekend and washed the jars and then poured boiling water in them. We then filled them with the hot jam and turned them upside down.  4 of the jars made a sucking type sound but the other 2 didnt - are they supposed to???? Also I am wondering about making sauces and syrups and how to store those. I usually buy them in a plastic aqueeze bottle but if I am making my own I am wondering how people store them (Ie brownie or coffee syrup) so that they can easily be poured. I realise that this is probably a fairly basic question - but I have never done this before as sterilizing jars has always put me off!!!!!! Thanks for any help. Sharyn

Introduce Yourself / Hi
« on: April 26, 2011, 12:06:11 pm »
After many months of "lurking" I thought I should finally introduce myself.

I am a mum who has 2 amazing boys who has nagged her husband for 2 years in the hope that he may cave in and finally say yes to me buying a thermomix - and finally he has!!! Anything I think for a peaceful life!!

I have had my thermomix only for a very short time but have tried many things - some successful and some not so! All practice I guess.

I also wanted to say how impressed I am with this forum and how kind, friendly and helpful everyone is - its like one big happy family!! It really is amazing and I have spent many hours reading the many different posts.

I hope one day I may become skilled enough to convert and post a recipe but until then I look forward to reading and using the ones here! Thanks to everyone who contributes to the site.
