Laura I cooked rice last night. I used between 1 litre and 900 ml. I used speed 4 varoma temperature and it was lovely at about the 13 minute mark. Once you master it you will be very happy. Good luck.

Thanks for the encouragement cookie. I will try again for 13 min. I think I need to be less shy about taking the varoma apart to check my progress.

Laura, I cook rice a couple of times a week and use similar quantities to cookie - so 900 - 1000mls water but we cook for 16 minutes varoma speed 4

Thanks! Maybe I should have mentioned, I'm using long grain white rice.
Will having it at varoma speed 4 make the other foods (meat and veg in the containers above) cook in a different way? Ie will it need to be adjusted for timing?

I think I'm unclear how the blade speed will affect how much steam is produced etc.

Thanks for helping a newbie everyone :)

You'll get plenty of steam on speed 3 or 4 Laura, it will be trial and error until you get this right.  Hard vegies in the thermo bowl and just add softer vegies on the tray later if they only need a short time.

Hi Laura. Welcome to the forum :)

I cook rice in the TM almost everyday. Just like Wonder, my setting is varoma temp, speed 4, 16 mins. Max 400g rice and 1L of water. I use basmati.

Steam starts to appear at about 8mins.

I cook the rice the same, but sometimes put a cup of frozen mix veges on top of the rice, or broccoli and cook for about 16-18mins.  Great for one or two people
