Chit Chat / Re: What are you cooking today?
« on: April 10, 2016, 07:42:00 am »
I heated a frozen pizza for lunch  :P

I just can't get my cooking mojo back on lately. I need to make a cake and slice for DH's lunchbox, but I don't know which to make. He only really likes orange cake. I might just have to look at my blog and get a bit enthusiastic. I think it's the change of season. It's supposed to be Autumn, but it's still really warm during the day. :-\

Little bit of catching up to do here. I haven't met Thermilover yet! Funny thing is we were in Tassie recently too. Cam hom eon the 21st March. Such a beautiful place. I was so impressed with the way the little towns seemed to be all so proud of their heritage and maintained their old buildings.

So sorry to hear about your dog, Mab. Katj, exciting to be in a new place! Lucky you have great neighbours and can use their internet. Chookie, how come you're only visiting Cherokee? I thought you lived there.....

So long since I've been here. I'm trying to get my Thermie mojo back. I've barely made anything from scratch for ages.

So disappointed in this book. Does anyone want to buy it from me?

I ended up putting this in my Le Creuset as it just seemed too much rice. Definitely reduce next time. Great flavour.

We had fish tonight and I made a couple of salads. DH had to cook his own fish as I had yoga.

Wow, I have so much catching up to do! All these ideas and recipes! I have so many books and e-books and rarely use them. Just lost my Thermie Mojo.

Thanks all! It's been a blast. I'm also Shire President since last October elections and am really  enjoying that role.

I check in now and then and read the posts, but usually don't have time to reply. I did use my Thermie over Easter, making my Not Cross Buns! They were delicious!

Still not using it as much as I should, though. I have Nikkalene's book, so hope to make some of her recipes when the weather is a little cooler.

Recipe Requests / Apple Cinnamon Muffins
« on: March 23, 2016, 05:26:08 am »
I'd love a good recipe for Apple Cinnamon Muffins. I made one from the Recipe Community, but they weren't nice, too doughy. Does anyone have a favourite? I did a search, but this search engine is terrible!

Interesting recipe for buttercream. Has anyone tried it?

I'm not sure if you use the TM5 chip, but I skip the first step of melting the butter and just throw flour and butter together and cook longer.

I'm not that keen on it myself. What does everyone else think about it?

Chit Chat / Re: Pancakes vs Pikelets
« on: March 23, 2016, 05:05:12 am »
American Pancakes have become popular since the inception of Macca's, I guess. We used to eat pancakes with lemon and sugar too! Yum.

Pikelets were always served either warm with butter or cold with butter and honey or jam. I love date and orange pikelets.

Definitely agree with you on the Scotch Broth! We also love QJ's Chicken and Brown Rice Soup. It's a complete meal.  Another favourite is Potato, Bacon and Corn and Tomato and Lentil.

Hi everyone
I can see there're loads of new people here! I haven't been on for ages. Just so busy with my Celebrancy business and now I've started a new business as well! http://www.youniqueproducts.com/MeganTuffley  It's great fun and I'm loving the products! Also on FB for those who are. https://www.facebook.com/YouniqueByMeganTuffley

I've also been to Tassie for two weeks with DH and our two friends. Sorry, didn't get a chance to catch up with you Roz! We had a wonderful time and did quite a few tours. Beautiful place. We loved the way people have looked after the old buildings and restored them to their former glory. Even the old farm houses were magnificent. Every little town we went to, people were so welcoming.

I haven't been using my Thermie much lately, either. :-\ Kind of lost my mojo. I hope to get enthused at Easter time. What's everyone planning to make over Easter?

I've always been taught that you should not put stainless steel anywhere near the cabbage when crushing it. I use  a knife to chop it and hands to massage and crush it with salt and whey from yoghurt. I also add fennel seeds. Yum!
