Hi All
thought Id start a new thread to keep those of us who aren't on the WA Reatreat busy!!!
I've had TMX for two months now and I have made lots but tend to make the same again - human nature to repeat successes!!!
How about "getting out of your comfort zone" and trying something new in your TMX that you haven't done before.
It may be getting out your Varoma for the first time, making jam, making yogurt, bread or whatever it is that you have been wanting to try but just haven't got round to it yet!!!
-
Great idea mine was not using the varoma but have used it several times now. Will have to think of something else. I have been trying to find new main meals to cook, so might try cooking something new although I did that last week and it was horrible >:(
-
I probably won't get a chance to try something new this week but last week I cooked corned beef for the first time, using the varoma as per Judy's recipe. Worked brilliantly, very happy with myself!
-
This was my promise to myself when I first got my TMX more than two years ago and I still stick to it. I found I was getting addicted to risottos and had to stop myself from making them for a while, but I have continued to always try at least one new recipe each week. With the number of recipes on this forum alone (even though I am restricted to vegetarian / lactose free) there are still more than enough to keep me going for a long, long time - not to mention all the other wonderful blogs our members have for me to dip into as well, there's always something new and exciting to try!
I've also had a few failures - but they are are just an extension of your experiments, so long as you learn something from them. How many of us can say we have never had a failure cooking the 'conventional' way?
-
I make bread, jam, cakes, biccies, yoghurt, main meals, risottos, use the varoma all the time.
So I will try a couple of new recipes this weekend.
i have a friend coming over Saturday to cook for the day.
-
Yes I tend to stick to the same things that I know the family enjoy, occasionally I will try something new that I think they might enjoy (sometimes with success, some times a complete failure)
I use my varoma most nights for steamed veggies, I make bread rolls regularly, sauces and relish as needed, I don't cook a lot of complete main meals in the TM but most of the preparing of them, I mix cakes, biscuits, slices etc in the TM. I have even made pasta. Will have to have a good look through the recipes and try something out of my Comfort zone.

I know what I might try, Risotto. Yes I have never made rissoto at all, not even once. Risotto has only been made once in my machine when I had a demo at home. I'm not sure if everyone will like it but too bad I'm going to make it anyway lol :D
-
I will certainly try something new. I won't be using it. Having fun with the other owners though.

Mandi, you have NEVER made risotto!?!? :o :o :o
-
Risotto is so easy, you must give it a go. I don't really like the mushroom one, but risotto can be just about anything so the choices are wide. I even have a recipe somewhere for pizza risotto!
-
Mandy the red curry chicken risotto is nice
-
I think Maddy put a pizza one on here. (sorry can't link on iPad, need lessons from Gert)
There's lots of yummy recipes. The garlic prawn is one that is lovely.
-
Mmmm, yes, garlic prawn is yummy ;D
I made a pumpkin, salmon and corn one a while ago which was really nice too :)
Or even just a chicken and vegetable.
-
You will love Gert, she is so much fun from when I met her. :) :)
-
I try and make something new each week yesterday I made the garlic turkish bread and vegetable with bacon and pasta soup both successes and both delicious
-
No I have never made it, I'm not a huge fan of risotto and DH doesn't like rice do I haven't bothered. But I have decided to give it a go. I like the sound of the garlic prawn one so might try that see if DH likes that.

Just found the link to the pizza risotto http://www.superkitchenmachine.com/2010/4488/thermomix-pizza-bimby-risotto-recipe.html

The kids will like the pizza risotto dede, it's very yummy.
-
I think they just might Michelle, and it's a great recipe to try for me considering I have never made risotto before. :D
-
Tonight I made the mushroom soup- I too was in a bit of a rut of thermie, making same old same old but this week I tried the honey soy chicken and tonight the soup! Made lasagne today and decided on the cheese sauce instead of plain old bechamel and it was nice! Used cornflour instead of flour- probably makes it a bit thick for my liking!
I like this thread! :D
-
Mandi, do try the Garlic Prawn risotto it is yummy

I will for sure, I'm just not going to tell DH what we having for dinner that night or he might not come home :D
He does like non fried rice, but not plain rice. He might just like it?
-
Love this idea because being a newbie, everything is still new and exciting!
I made my own Tikka Curry paste last night (first attempt at a curry paste) and teamed it with the Butter chicken recipe from here on the forum and it was just divine!
Risottos are my go-to when I'm late home from work or just can't be bothered, tonight was based on the mushroom one in the EDC but I added bacon, peas and zucchini because I needed to use them up. It wasn't fabulous but it was a pretty good meal to have on the table in less than 30minutes when we're home late from work and have visitors staying.
I'm hoping to make yoghurt/ricotta cheese this week so maybe that can be my goal!
I'm looking forward to hearing what other people are trying :)
-
I made chocolate today and it was a huge success!
Thank you quirky jo for your wonderful recipe

Jamberie, I am also a risotto queen!!. Keen to maybe try yoghurt or a sourdough.
-
I am very keen on this challenge! I have so many recipes on my 'to do' list, I need more hours in the day to cook them all.
I've decided that I'm going to try the honey mustard chicken tonight. I can't wait! Honey mustard sauce is my favourite flavour combination ever!!!
Plus I've got some bread rolls baking away now (as we've had no bread in the house for the last couple of days...that's pretty unusual for us!
-
I hope you enjoy it all Blackwood.
-
oh my goodness...they were all fantastic! I will have to leave a review...just need to find the right spot to leave it!!! :)
I'm just looking on this forum for something to make tomorrow! ;D
-
Dede - have you made the risotto yet? What was the family's verdict?
-
No not yet, I'm going to try the garlic prawn recipe first and need to get some prawns, haven't had a chance to get any yet. So hopefully next week. :)
-
