Title: Mini Donuts - Recipe for Machine
Post by: isi on January 18, 2010, 12:23:13 am
Hello!
For those who have the machine to do donuts here's a recipe I usually do!
The donuts are so cute and tasty, then just give vent to imagination. The kids (and others ;)) They love!

Recipe Name:
MINIDONUTS

Number of people: ...

Ingredients
3 eggs
120 grams sugar

Butterfly Place in Thermomix and beat 3 minutes at speed 3

4 tablespoons of oil (with 5 still get softer!)
110 gram Milk
250 gram Flour
2 teaspoons baking powder

all continuously involved with the Butterfly in Speed 3 until a homogeneous mass!

The mixture is foamy and comes to about 40 donuts!
Just put a spoonful of soup in each hole!

On my machine just lightly brush the surface of the machine once at the beginning!

Always make a sugar syrup or Chocolate Topping to dive them Diving or else just put Sugar in Powder! Recipe here http://www.forumthermomix.com/index.php?topic=2801.0

Denzelmum - Made half recipes (using 2 small eggs), DD and DS love this!  We had them plain without sugar syrup.  Nice quick fix for two hungry kids.  Thanks, Isi.

Zan -  They were nice. I'm not a big donut fan but tasted like donuts to me, lol, and the kids loved them. Made a half batch and they all disappeared super fast.

Merlin - This recipe  is such a great standby one when hungry kids drop by!

snappy - I made another batch of these tonight for mr 5s lunch box tomorrow.  Delicious! I just brushed them with melted butter and then dipped into the cinnamon sugar.  They really are lovely, you should definitely try.  The recipe makes about 45 in my machine. I now coat half the batch in sugar and put the other half in a ziplock bag in the freezer. They thaw great. They go straight from the freezer to lunch boxes, my kids can't get enough of these donuts, such a great recipe.

Kimmyh - Made these today in a mini donut tray. Used half recipe with two eggs and piped into greased tray. Baked 10mins 180c. Not sure if they are the same result as the machine ones, but they tasted great. Made 36 minis.

Mmm, I have one of these donut makers, it was the first appliance I ever received, when I was about 12 - that's 15 years ago!! Thanks for the recipe, will have to try with my donut-mad taste testers :)

(The amount of recipe threads I've posted on today, if I just got OFF the computer, maybe I would manage to MAKE some of them.)

Georgie, I think a lot of us have that problem.  But at least we are sharing new recipes and thoughts.

How would you cook these without a donut maker? I have four kids to entertain tomorrow and homemade donuts would be a great success.

I think you deep fry and then cut them to shape.

Must try this recipe.
A while ago I made a batch from the cookbook of the doughnut maker....and they were horrid!
I tried to replicate my favourite pineapple icing, but put too much essence in....so they went to the chooks  :(

astarra, did you use a donut machine?

Yes - one of my latest kitchen toys!  :-)) I'm shocking - I got a mini donut maker and a waffle maker on friday.
Found it alot easier to pipe the mix into the rounds rather than try to spoon it in. It made 40 mini donuts as isi said in the recipe.  :)

After watching BHG last week and DH stating that he loves hot cinnamon donuts, I might need to invest in a donut maker. The ones they made on BHG were deep fried and I hate deep fried food.

I bought a mini doughnut maker from Kmart for $12 when they had them on special abut 2 years ago and I make the kids 'normal' doughnuts as well as gluten free ones. Works perfectly each time. Ths recipe  is such a great standby one when hungry kids drop by!

The Tovolo cupcake pen is fabulous for squeezing the batter into the rings too, and without a drop of spillage  ;D

Oh my goodness Snappy, they look amazing! Great photo! How did you do them? Did you just toss them in cinnamon sugar straight out of the donut maker while they were still hot, or did you wait for them to cool?

I need to make these for (me and) my kids too!

They thaw great Astarra.

Actually, we don't hear much from Isi these days which is such a shame as some of my favourite recipes are hers - these donuts, Madeline's ..
