I make one that is similar but mine is more of a sweet relish.
1.5 onions (quartered)
1.5 capsicums (quartered)
1.5 cups white sugar
1.5 cups white vinegar
Place the onion in TM for 3-5 secs on speed 7 then add all other ingredients into TM bowl and pulverise 3 secs speed 7 to get desired size. Then cook 30-40 mins (keep an eye on it) Varoma speed SOFT.
Delicious served with sausages and meats or on sandwiches

Have heaps of red caps. Cooking away now.

This is a great Jam.
I have been making it for years even before TMX (but it is sooo much easier with TMX)
It is really nice with creamed cheese (or any soft cheese) on crackers.
Also nice on sandwiches and with roast meat both hot and cold.
I highly recommend it!

Soo yummy, will make lots for Chrissy presents. Notice that after making this, the bowl is extra clean.
-
Have made this a few times it can be very sweet so I cut the sugar to about one cup. It's very nice on steaks and burgers.
Great if you have an abundance of capsicums.

Just in the middle of making this . . .suddenly occurred to me - is the MC in or out?? (It's in at the moment)
-
This is lovely! thanks Cookie - next time might add just a touch of the chilli! An easy and tasty way to use up some of those capsicums! - the only tweak - used just 1 cup of sugar (raw - didn't have any white - I'm wondering if that makes any difference) . Maybe next time might add just a little more.
And Denzelmum was right! It does help clean the bowl!! Had some very stubborn burn marks on the base of the bowl that you could actually feel. After the jam was cooked, and the bowl rinsed out you could still see and feel the marks but they didn't seem quite so stubborn now. Applied bicarb and after a few gentle rubs, the bowl is now as good as new. :D

Gosh it's ages since I did this. Probably time to do some more.

Making smaller batch eith composition one each and cutting down cooking time to 24 min. I used a bitvless than a cup of sugat. Will report the result.

Thank you for helping me figure out how to use my Thermie this weekend! *runs outside to vegie garden*

GF did u leave it in for 40 mins?
-
Uni - yes.. If I remember correctly I might have "tilted" it every so often. Really enjoyed this.. Seems to get better as it "ages" ...
-
One more Q GF did u use green or red capsicums
thanks GF
-
Very red ones Uni, :) next time I make it I might add some chilli...
-
this jam is yum ;D the kids loved, so did I
i add about 1/2 teaspoon of chilli and used only 1 of each ingredient cooked for 30mins with the MC tilted
thanks cookie :-*

Delicious, must make some for friends. I used 2 of both the onions and capsicums and left the other quantities as is in the recipe. Cooked it for 40 minutes with the steaming basket on top. It still only filled one 380g jar.
-
good idea JD using 2 of both the onions and capsicums and leaving the sugar and vin too 1 cup, must try it that way next time i make it
-
Agreed - !! an excellent tweak, Judy - thanks!!
-
Yum... If only I had a garden full of capsicums!
-
looks good

i forgot to mention in my review, i used the :-:

Perhaps a stupid question but here goes....
I have an abundance of red capsicum and am interested in trying this recipe. It calls for 1.5 capsicums. Is that just 1 and 1/2 or 1.5 kg? Surely 1.5 capsicums isn't going to produce much jam is it? All the comments suggest it is kg's cause i don't think using just 1 1/2 would really be a cause to celebrate using up an abundance of them! I feel stupid asking this!
-
I only used one and a half capsicums ... Try those quantities first and you'll get an idea of how you can adjust them....:)
-
Just made this adding 3 chilles that were in the bottom of the fridge.Delicious result ( very spicy ;)) except I got Error 52 when it finished cooking :o I must get new seals for my TM jug :-))
-
Made tonight and served over sausages. Very nice. Have a clean bowl too!
-
Love this! DD made this again not long ago, but it's all gone. Will make it this afternoon to save some red capsicums lurking in the fridge. We have it with just about everything . . . but the huge bonus is the sparkling TMX bowl at the end! ;D ;D
-
Made this today, haven't tasted yet, smelt gorgeous.
Added paprika and I/2 tsp dried chilli pdr.
Thanks so much
Xx

Bump ;D

I remembered making this but didn't remember eating it :-)) Checked the pantry and there it is at the back of the cupboard untouched ;D It has now been brought forward to remind me to open it sooner rather than later.
-
LOL I'm sure I have things tucked away too Judy.
-
I’m on my second batch of this recipe since I came in late this afternoon and the ingredients for a third batch are prepared and ready to go. Alternating my bowls so that they both end up sparkling clean. Starting early with my contributions for the nursing home trading table held in early December.
-
A pity you don't live near me Judy as I could give you umpteen jam jars that are gathering dust on my self. ;D
-
They soon get used up at this time of the year Denise and I must get into the shop to pick up some more before the Christmas gift giving rush starts. I noticed the other day they had great stocks of different sized jars. Because my jams and chutneys are sold at the trading table to people I mostly don’t know of course the jars never come back to me like they do if I gift to friends.

A lovely early start Judy.
