Day Ten
Herman has just been popped into the oven and this was his picture before he went.Smile Herman ;D
I used 2 chopped apples,70g walnuts and 140g chocolate chips plus the other necessary ingredients for the recipe.

Bye bye Herman. :-*
I'll be back with the Cooked Herman photo later ;)

Waiting.....
A great cook is one who can rustle up a fabulous family meal with some freezer burnt chops, wilted carrots, sprouting potatoes and cabbage that's gone brown on the cut edges.

Looks great CC but DH's job is not finished yet.  Can he please take one more picture when you cut into it?  Bet he is glad that little exercise is over and please pass on our appreciation for his help.

One last thing CornishCream, taste-wise, what is it like (I know you're not eating it but it would be interesting to get some feedback on the difference of taste compared to a traditional cake...)?

I wish you could share it with all of us CC, it looks so tasty.  Oh well, maybe I will have to make 1, or 2, or 3 or 4 - can't think of anyone to give the starter to that would be prepared to follow it through to the end.

Oh girls, I have just tuned into this thread and read the lot in one go. Thanks CC for your day by day photography. I hope the taste of Herman was worth the build up!

I made an Amish friendship cake a year or so ago. It was extremely yummy, and received high praise from the friends I shared the finished product with. However, they all thought I was totally mad to spend 10 days letting a cake brew.  You have re-inspired me - I must give it another go.

Excellent, he's all done. Looks fantastic CC. I bet he smells good too ;D
Thank you so much for the detailed process.
Now we understand clearly what needs to be done. I'm going to start my own Herman. The only thing I'm concerned about is it pretty cold here in Tassie at the moment. Might wait a couple more weeks when we have the fire going all the time and the house is nice an warm all day.
